This professor made it impossible for me to do well in a class that should have been a joke (based on the material). He tested us on the most minute, trivial details. I took this course because I thought it would be an easy A, but it was the only B i got all semester. PLEASE, for your own good, avoid this professor at all costs. Trust me.

I took a total of 3 courses with him thus far, & now enrolled in my 4th course with him this semester. He's an extremely nice prof and he actually jokes around a lot. But I do have to admit my 1st class with him SUCKED but he changed a LOT! Great prof overall! Don't need to go to class, but his slides are a pain to look at!Paragraphs on each slide!

I used to love ecology but this man made me hate it. He should be fired at the spot. Clicker questions were unfair; labs were a complete waste of time. He was mean to some people and couldn't even answer questions properly in class. Do not even bother arguing for marks in exams, he will just tell you to get out of his office. Fire him already!!!

Not necessarily a hard prof in terms of the material he teaches or the difficulty of the exams, but hard in the sense that he makes it difficult to do well. Ex he decided one lab did too well so he's going to lower their grade. Very unorganized and it ends up hurting students.

Weis' best contribution to the gene pool will be removing himself from it. Unfair professor that does not give a flying **** about the students. Tell students that lab material will not be on the midterm....and guess what it is, and worth like 12.5%. Would not ever take another class taught by him.

his midterms are retarded. He had a matching page, and one of the answers wasn't on there to match a word and afterwards he admitted he made a mistake and told us we should have left it blank, otherwise, we get it wrong. He's boring, he's hard, and dosn't care. We have these clickers that don't work and its 10% of our grade. His answer? too bad

This is the worst teacher I have had in my life. He yells at ppl for asking questions. He doesn't test on what he teaches. He makes ecology the most boring subject in the world when it is actually interesting. He makes you never want to take another ecology course in your life. He should probably be fired. Very intelligent man. Horrible teacher. Cryptic exam material, including stuff he said we wouldn't be tested on. I'm an ecology grad student now. He made me dread going to my favourite subject. He shouldn't be allowed to teach ecology, because he kills the interests of potential new ecologists. Avoid his office and his inappropriate comments.

Comment:

Previous critics must have somehow failed the relatively easy ecology course. Pr. Weis knows the material and presented it well, with an emphasis on CONCEPTS. If people were too busy trying to memorise to be bothered to learn, that's their problem. He is also delightfully offbeat, and does an excellent grouse mating dance.

forget sleeping pills. just go to one of this guy's lectures. i also love how his exam was all about examples he barely covered, and the average was low 50's. clearly profs like this man are the reasons why UofW is rated so low.
