Horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible. I like him as a person, but he's easily the worst teacher I've had. STAY AWAY. Our reading assignments are 20 pg Wikipedia articles and TA makes quizzes from the reading. Mandatory attendance but Kostic rambles for all 50 mins. Nothing from lecture has been on a quiz. Pointless. DON'T TAKE HIM

We are required to read wikipedia for course readings. WIKIPEDIA. The quizzes and tests are poorly worded and terrible.

Kostic is a useless man. It is amazing he has been at NIU for so long. I truly believe he thoroughly enjoys tripping students up and giving Fs. He is unprofessional calling students derogatory names. He yells at students for not asking questions but if you do he refuses to answer or will embarrass you in front of the class.

Lectures are interesting, filled primarily with theory backed up with applications. Tests are hard. To be successful, you must teach yourself the material, don't rely purely on lecture. Do all the homework, and study weekly. I feel I got the grade I deserved based on my knowledge level, but I really had to teach myself with the book.

I hit all the average test scores. I did all my homework. I got by with a few points on my quizes, even when quiz scores averaged .89/7 points. I am sure I failed the final after studying hours on the otto, disel, cycles etc, which was not on the final. Even after he said a thousand times we need to study it. I failed. I don't know why. I just did.

Has no problem giving you zeros on the tests if you don't write exactly what he wants. He expects you to pretty much memorize everything in the book which is impossible. Avoid him at all costs! Trust me, I thought i was smart and decided to take this class instead of waiting to take it with another professor and it backfired!

Worst ME professor at NIU. Avoid him at all cost. You might learn a lot by the end of the semester. BUT not from him. Exams based on your knowledge of the material and derivations. Knowing how to solve textbook problems will only get you 30% on the exam.

Rude. Many readings are from Wiki. Tests are super hard (more than 50% of the class failed). Everything is done on clickers. He says he'll listen to feedback and make changes, but he never does. When students ask him questions, he never answers them. He says all students should know physics and chemistry in kindergarden. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Single hardest class I've ever taken in my entire life. He will teach nearly the entire textbook and will test you on almost every concept or idea presented in the book. If you have what it takes to be an engineer, take his class. Gives good lectures but is not clear about exam conditions. Grading is fair. You get out of this class what you put in.

I wouldn't wish this guy on anyone. He belongs doing research in a lab instead of attempting to teach students. As someone who refuses to help with homework, gives impossible exams and has a website that is as complex as a pentagon launch code, I wouldn't advise paying for anything with his name on it unless you plan on retaking it another time.

Taking this class and 390 with him is about the equivalent of walking into a tree chipper, actually the tree chipper would probably be more desirable.

I am frustrated that I am even paying money to take this course. We waste so much time on clicker problems and how to properly send him an email it's ridiculous. The other ratings are right on. TA makes weird quiz questions whose answers are usually debatable. Also, because of his teaching style he gets a lot of wise ass remarks.

I used to believe what people say about Dr Kostic but after taking him I found out he's a nice gut who is always ready to help. His accent is very funny, I enjoyed his class. He likes students who are hard-working. He has a lot of rules though.

I hads him for thermodynamics back in '03 and absolutely loved his class. I learned a ton and am actually thinking of going back to school because of him. I don't know why everyone is bashing him. The class is very hard, but nothing worthwhile is easily.

Kostic is the absolute worst professor. This class first off is way too hard to be a 100 level class. The notes are too vague and are most of the time Wikipedia articles and power points that he didn?t even write. He blames the poor grades on his TA and is un-will to grade on a curb. His accent is thick and his lectures are incomprehensible.

He is a cool guy who is very passionate about his field and is well educated. However, he expects you to fully memorize Wikipedia articles and make ridiculous quizzes in which the questions sometimes are not grammatically correct. He has a thick accent which is hard to understand. He would be good at giving a one time lecure, but not teaching.

One positive thing that you can say about Mr. Kostic is that he knows the content very well, he is a professional in this field. However, is very bad at structuring a classrom setting. He also has a very thick ascent that is hard to understand occasionally. He would be perfect for a seminar on energy, but not so good as a teacher.

DO. NOT. TAKE. HIS. CLASS. Worst teacher I have ever had at any level of education. His expectations are ridiculous, he barely makes any effort to teach, has his TA make ridiculous quizzes and tests, etc. He is difficult to understand and he wants to teach you as if you already understand the material, which you won't.

His vocabulary is fine but he has trouble forming English sentences. He used Wikipedia for his lectures and frequently gave us false information. We spent more time figuring out our eInstruction clickers than learning. He frequently made inappropriate and hurtful comments to students.

Umm...to sum it all up he's a very hard professor. he thinks that you're only enrolled in his class. He gives you homework everyday. His website, one of these days will give people seizures. His motto is "If you don't work hard you fail bad". Just study the book and try to do most problems from the chapter. Eventually, you'll get the concept.
