Oh Joann Jones, what to say about her. Like the person before me, do not take her other classes, her passion is photography. I hated the drawing class I had w/ her my very first sem @ UofA. It's kinda easy, just time consuming if you want to do it right. In photo, I got to know her & things were totally diff. She is still tuff, but easier 2 please

Take her for photography but not other classes. She loves photography and is therefor more interested in her students and helping them. She tells you what you need to do for projects and grades pretty fair. Class is mandatory and don't get behind on projects or she drops your grade dramatically.

Although she is nice to you she gives the meanest critiques ever! She will help you with something and then mark you down for doing it that way. If you do exactly what she wants you hava a chance at getting an A. She doesnt care if you can actually produce your own art..you could use clip art and get the same grade.

I had her for Drawing Fundamentals and 2D-Design. She was a really sweet teacher, but the projects weren't very stimulating and unless you made something she liked she didn't appreciate much else. She would always say nice things during critiques but would always give me a B..somehow I ended up with an A but glad it's over.

I was really excited about taking this class; however, the teacher made me hate painting. She has favorites and always has mood swings! I would not curse anyone so badly as to recommend this teacher! It was horrible because you cannot have any creative expression or can't talk about your opion without making her mad--Do NOT take her.

Why does everyone think Jones is such a great teacher? I thought she was ignorant and rude. Her class isn't about creativity at all, it's about producing exactly what she tells you to produce. If you do this, you will get an A. But if you actually want to express yourself, expect to get a B or a C. I've had high school art classes that were better.

She is the best teacher in the Art program. Her critiques are extremely helpful, and she is reasonable with her due dates. You usually get out of the class early. She is fair with her grading and notices whether you spent much time on the project. Wish I could have her for all of my classes!

She gives really good examples of what you're expected to do on each assignment. I learned a lot, and I believe she grades fairly. She also gives good suggestions to your work to help you improve. Definitely one of the best art instructors.
