Comment:

This teacher is rude, unorganized and conducts the class at her own pace. Her hw are online and tests+final are mc qs. She kept telling the class that there might be extra credits, but she did not curve or give out any EC at the end!??!?! Also NO CALCULATORS allowed. Please for the love of god, don't risk your gpa for this teacher/class.

Comment:

Being a nice person doesnt make her a good instructor. Since shes a faster talker and tends to rush during her lectures, its hard to catch up with her pace while understanding materials. Notes arent really helpful for neither quizzes nor tests, so be prepared to go over the materials on your own. If youre not so good at math, JUST AVOID HER!

This professor is not the best. She tends to be all over the place and tends to overcomplicate the concepts. It doesn't help that she speaks with an accent and doesn't communicate the lesson as effectively as she could. There's a good amount of homework, 3 tests and a final. Miss any quiz and she won't let you retake it as they are online. AVOID!!!

Professor Ison is very helpful. She might sound rushed during lecture but she stops when you ask questions and tries to explain. She also spends lab time helping if you ask for help. She uses online homework which I found very helpful and makes it easy to go on your own pace. I would take her again!

Easy choice at De Anza for a Math prof. Tests were entirely multiple choice (except a 10 point easy FRQ) and the final was MC too. There were quizzes that were just hw problems. We were allowed to drop our lowest 2 quizzes and the lowest midterm. Recommend if you want an easy A, but she's nothing special.

Arguably one of the worst professors at De Anza. Nice woman but completely fails in every aspect of teaching. Lectures and teaches at HER speed, not the students'. Over complicates simple concepts, forcing you to teach yourself. Thick accent, speaks very fast, makes mathematical errors constantly. No consistency on HW and Exam problems. ***Avoid***

Fantastic teacher. I have always been a bad math student but her class is very straight forward. If you do the homework before class and use the class period to study for the quizes you will do well

Its hard to like Ison as teacher. She's nice and all, she can come off as rude to some students. She doesn't really grade anything, all the homework and exams are done through an Online Program.

Ms. Ison is a nice person, but I didn't like her as an instructor. Her lectures were very hard to understand, and she rushes them. I really don't like that she gives her students all of the quarter's homework, and expects us to finish them at the end of the quarter. We even have to pay for Aleks to do math online. I don't recommend this instructor

No textbook, but you'll need to purchase a class code for ALEKS to do your homework. 3-5 question quiz every class after the first half of the class based on notes. Try not to fall too far behind in the homework. Write down the notes she writes. Clear note taking, helps if you have questions, you can use notes during every quiz but not on tests

Her way of explaining is not that good, she tries to be organized but her notes and explanations are all over the place! She talks fast and I couldnt hear half the things she said clearly. If youre good at math youll pass but if youre looking for a prof to teach math well and wanna learn dont take her!

I took her for both 212 and 114: I only liked her classes because all the work was done computers; more my style. She can be rude at times. I didn't have a problem with the way she lectured, some people do because of her accent. Overall, I'm glad to get them over with.

During lecture she rushes and messes up a lot so its hard to follow along properly. Checks notes after lecture while also checking attendance. Everything is online using Aleks. Short 3-5 question quizzes after every lecture with notes, 3 tries each. 3 tests & Final exam 2 tries no notes. shes nice but i failed the final bc she didn't review so well

A good teacher. She is very organized, though many students would not agree with me:D Her note in class is very helpful for the quizzes and tests, also the HW help more to review the points she hits in class. There is no much difference in class questions and tests. Her final is easier than usual midterms since all multiple choices. Don't cheat.

Took Ison during summer quarter so class was extremely compacted. Everyday there is a quiz after the material. All homework due day before the end of the quarter. Goes really fast over material, but she and her tutor will take time to explain in the computer lab. Quiz everyday after lecture. Show up to all classes and stay on top of your homework.

Comment:

Ison is a fast talker and tends to make mistakes in her lectures. She has a problem with fixating on one example for too long and then rushing through the rest of the lecture. Hw was on webassign and some of her test problems closely resembles hw problems. Easy quizzes once a week that is usually 1-2 questions long.
