Professor Harrison has been my favorite professor at Davis so far. I enjoyed every minute of lecture and the TA (Sarah) was very caring and she gave us a lot of help on the weekly writing assignments. Class is easy if you pay attention, read the textbook, and do the weekly writing assignments. Highly recommend.

One of the best professors Ive ever had. His passion for the material shows and wants to ensure that the class is learning not only material but about the world we live in. 3 books and 4 quizzes, weekly writing assignments and midterm, final. Gives clear directions on what he wants. Lectures were always amazing and you must attend to do well.

Such a great teacher! He lectures very well and in general the class is pretty interesting. You will definitely learn something. As long as you pay attention in lecture, the midterm and final are easy. Homework is to read two chapters a week and then write 500 words. This will take you 2 hours tops. I would definitely take him again.

Milmon is hilarious, super easy to talk to. He asks for weekly papers the summarize the readings (took maybe an hour to do each) which helped a lot for final paper. 1 midterm, 1 final. Just do the work and you'll be fine. I would DEF take him again, I learned so much.

Probably one of the best teachers at UC Davis. Easy weekly assignments and participation account for 60% of your grade. Professor Harrison is a very good lecturer and you will learn to love the class. His test are based on the slides he shows during lecture. His midterm and test were easy. Some people finished in 20 minutes. Take this class!

Although I enjoyed the class and the tests and assignments were easy, the Professor is horrible outside of lecture. Not only does he not answer emails, his tone belittles students. I read good things about him before this course and I was saddened that my experience did not match up to other reviews.

Great class, but your grade really depends on your writing skills on the midterm. The weekly blog posts are easy and super helpful because they just reinforce the material for the midterm. Attendance is mandatory. He has made a difference in the way I think about the world and has taught me SO MUCH about our history. Take him!

Best African Americans Studies professor hands down. Knows how to incorporate contemporary issues and relate them back to the material. Suggest taking most of his classes that he teaches.Weekly Blog assignments can be lengthy, but will come in handy for both the midterm and the final

The content of this class was great, but it was unclear what was expected for us to know on the exam. Know the dates, and about each migratory group, and any other stuff he talks about in class. Blogs, two exams, and participation make up your grade. If you're not good with dates or don't like reading, seriously avoid at all costs.

Harrison is a great teacher. Although class is not mandatory, going to class will ensure you do well in the course. His tests were incredibly straight forward and blog assignments as homework were incredibly easy. Only thing I did not like about this class was the TA. Complete waste of time, could have been utilized much better.

Excellent professor.. even if you had no interest in the subject you couldnt help but listen to him because he makes everything interesting. The tests are basically totally based on essays, and the grade you receive depends on your TA. The book is used alot, so you should probably buy it and study in groups because it helps alot.

Dr. Harrison is clear, funny, and simply a great lecturer. Class consists of 4, 3 page papers, a midterm, and a final. Class is out of 100 points--10 ea. paper, 30 midterm, 30 final. Go to lecture, tests are based off of them. Class is an automatic B or higher if you pay attention in class--which is NOT hard at all! Everything said is interrelated.

Dr. Harrison is a great professor, 'nuff said. He articulates his concepts well (he ties EVERYTHING he mentions together, past and present). Reading isn't terribly necessary because he goes pretty much all the key points on the midterm/final. He always makes his test from what he says in class--so go to lecture. 4 essays are easy. Automatic B or up

I basically just have to echo what everyone else has already said: Harrison is funny, smart, and a really great lecturer. I learned a lot from him. His tests are hard, and it's the luck of the draw with the TAs, but I still think it's worth it to take him. Harrison is awesome.

I loved Harrison! My english isnt terrible good but I managed to do very well on the exam and paper. You got to really get the concepts in your head and be able to articulate it quickly and concisely in order to finish the essay exams in time. Got an A in both 10 and 100 class!! I really learned to love African American history thanks to Harrison!
