Very passionate and energetic teacher. Takes a little while to get used to but you'll love him by the end of class. He is so helpful to students and gives everyone a good chance at succeeding. Prepare for crazy outfits lol.

Comment:

I absolutely loved Professor Gaither. The class consisted of interesting discussions where everyone's opinions were welcomed-I never felt uncomfortable in his class. Gaither has the mentality that grades should not define who you are. Because of this, if you do your work and put forth effort, you get an A.

FYS was a class that I ended up really enjoying. There was lots of reading with "pop quizzes", but they made for easy points towards your grade.

Take this class! Be warned its not about writing skills or college preparation, but provides a deep glimpse into the history of the Church, and it might not be what you expect. Paraphrasing Gaither Students who take this class either become Orthodox or Atheist or were not paying attention. I have been an empirical agnostic ever since.

I LOVED this class. It was an 8am which stunk but Gaither made it really interesting. He gives really harsh feedback, but it's super helpful if you want an A. His rubriks are very specific so if you follow them carefully, you'll have no trouble passing. Would DEFINITELY take another class with him!

He's a really knowledgable teacher and communicates his expectations clearly. There are quizzes every class though, and attendance is pretty mandatory since there's a small quiz on the reading every class, so you gotta do it. Also, if you're right-leaning politically you may not like him cause he's extremely liberal and pretty in your face about it

Had Gaither for FYS... The majority of the other FYS classes requires no effort, but Gaither assigns long and boring readings every single night and then has quizzes every class. He's a nice guy but FYS should be an easy class and it's hard to be in one of the only classes that actually requires 1+ hour a night (if you actually do the reading).

Gaither is probably one of my favorite professors. He is one of the most intelligent people I've met in my life, while still being interesting and easy to talk/listen to. He welcomes questions and open discussion and you will benefit greatly for speaking up in his class. I would highly recommend him for any class.

One of the most intelligent people I have ever known but at the same time very able to have an easy going, light-hearted conversation. He is a straight shooter and pretty much says quiet bluntly. He is a Christian but be prepared to leave his class with more questions about your faith than answers!

Honestly I didn't think he was too bad at the beginning of the semester. However, as time went on, his condescending attitude irritated me to the point of not caring about this class. He isn't afraid to say that people are wrong, or laugh at others' opinions.

Gaither is absolutely amazing. He is a brilliant person and you can learn so much from him. He def challenges your beliefs, but it ables you to grow stronger in your own faith. His class is easy, theres a couple papers and if you actually slighty try, you'll get a good grade. Also, he gives short quizzes on readings which aren't bad. He's awesome.
