Miriam is a great prof. If you listen to what she says and learn from your mistakes, your mark will improve over the semester. My mark started at a 70, and now I'm nearing 80 and there are still some more assignments left of the semester. She is very easy-going and will help you however she can if you ask.

Miriam is super energetic and passionate about everything she teaches. She gives great background to every poem we cover and gave us more than enough time to complete our assignments. She also allows rewrites for all assignments. Very excellent teacher, I really learned a lot.

If you show up to class with the material read and somewhat understood, you'll do fine in the class. Sometimes, she will call on people to answer questions about the book. There is 1 presentation, 2 take home essays, a midterm essay and a final in-class essay. All in all, she's a good prof if you do your end of the work.

She truly cares about her students, is extremely knowledgeable, and wants you to do your personal best. She is a tough grader, but she allows you to revise your work. If you want a good mark you have to work for it, but it is attainable in her class.

If you don't write the way she does or have the same ideas she has for a piece of literature, she'll give you a bad grade. She "anonymously" grades people's work in front of the class, which is kind of demeaning. She's good at passively putting people down.

Super hard prof for first year english literature class. Makes you do a 20 minute presentation on your own and doesn't really clarify expectations. It's pretty much you learning on your own and she's their to regulate in class discussion on readings. Overall ok .

Miriam does not enjoy teaching academic writing at all and makes sure that you know it. There was minimal feedback for essays so it was nearly impossible to improve your grade and she is an extremely tough marker. Do not recommend her for Engl 105.

Her lectures can be quite boring, but worth it. She won't walk you through a text in terms of plot, so make sure you have read it, but she does extensively cover metaphor, symbolism and meaning which is helpful. she expects a lot of reading done in a short peroid of time (a book a week usually). She marks hard, but allows re writes, so its good.

I absolutely loved Miriam's class, she is very passionate about literature and that shows in her lectures. She is very personable and easy to talk to, when needing clarification she is willing to take the time and help. Hard marker but I really think that can make you a better student, and she gives great feed back to make you a better writer.

Sometimes its less that she's talking to you and more that she's talking to the ghost of the author you're studying. It almost feels as if no matter what you do, you're grade will not change. Almost as if she tries to ride on charisma she doesn't have. Not a bad person, not a great teacher either. Really easy to day dream in her class.

No denying Miriam is a tough prof, but if you take the class seriously then it will all pay off. She is very knowledgable and can deliver some of the most engaging lectures I have heard on campus. Be prepared for brutally fair marking and critical feedback, but she is hands down amazing and her input will set you up for success if you apply it.

Very helpful instructor, her ability to clarify any misunderstood formatting, tenses or grammar is very good. I learned more about writing and proper grammar in this class than I have in previous courses. Very clear about expectations for readings , homework, assignments or essays. A hard marker, class participation and attendance matter!

Miriam is one of the hardest markers I have ever had at UFV. She is very strict about punctuation, tenses, and mla formatting. That being said, I learned more from her in one class than I have in any other. I highly recommend her. Expect LOTS OF READING. She likes to have a LOT of novels in her classes. Overall, great proff and very smart person.

Very tough marker and teacher. There are too many novels that students have to read in her course. Also, she does not seem to be interested in her students. She talks down to them and does not want to help them. She is very intimidating.
