Bothered by how he wont acknowledge diversity struggles in a classroom and believes everyone is born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Lectures are all over the place and never clear with what he wants in his work. Doesn't use PP to teach, but also doesn't teach based on txtbk. Exams are based on real life scenarios.

Very passionate about planning. Not technological so literally no slides. Only speaks and rambles on. A very difficult grader if you don't know what you're talking about or if you don't submit what he's looking for. Very big on professionalism. Overall a great guy but he's the one prof you don't wanna play with

His lectures are like motivational speeches that can get kind of confusing, but he extremely passionate about planning. He doesn't use slides, so be prepared to listen. If you can't pass his first year class, planning isn't the profession for you. Bonus, he has good sense of humour.

He is very passionate about planning but sometimes, I feel like he lectures the same material over and over again. It usually basic concepts about planning and doesn't elaborate that much. He doesn't have any slides so be prepared to listen.

Mitch expects professional conduct from his planning students. This includes being on time, paying attention, not sleeping in class, and attending classes. I appreciate this, and I think most instructors at Ryerson are too soft, letting students rule the roost. Mitch has an amazing sense of humor, quite dry. It's good.

Honestly, I did not like him at first. In due time I realized it was chemical reaction of his controversial teaching style mixed with my own immaturity. He screams 'authority figure' and people seem to have an aversion to that. In retrospect, he's just someone who gives a sh!t and wants to make sure you know your stuff moving forward.

Kosnys job is to see if you should be in planning. You won't make it in uni planning if you can't pass. He's tough, so go to class and do the readings. Teaches you how to plan, not just write about it. Helpful if you take initiative and ask. Justify every sentence you write and explain how and why you are doing it and you'll be good. Welcome to uni

Dr. Kosny is the most confusing prof I have ever had, his lectures become motivational speeches, and it is hard to tell what he wants. He has good intentions and wants his students to understand the real world. Make sure you do all the readings and understand everything you read because you will need to reference them during the exam.

Honestly if you do the readings and take the class seriously you'll do alright. That said the guy is a bit senile (he's in his 70's so thats not surprising). So expect extensive periods of the class being dedicated to him just rambling about something with a lesson that could have been summarized in an exceedingly shorter time period.

While it's true that Kosny does have a bit of an ego, it's for good reason; he overflows with experience. You must know the basic information in ALL the readings , it's just as important, if not more so to APPLY the theory, and critically assess it while doing so. Simply put, he wants you to think, not follow the textbook like blind sheep.

Possibly the WORST first year professor to have. Teaching is clearly not where he belongs, and gives the most unfair mid-terms ever. If I knew what I was in for I would have never gotten into planning. Only way to get a good mark is if you write down EXACTLY what he wants but that's impossible because he does not specify. Save yourself, and money.
