Comment:

One of my favorite professors at Kettering. He teaches you how to use your calculator to do the work for you and encourages you to use it. Test heavy grade. No homework.

Comment:

The first day of class you know when all of the test will be for the term. He has notes online for all of the chapters that you can print off. And you get a cheat sheet on all of the tests. As long as you know the equations (which will be on your cheat sheet) you can do all of the problems. He makes it really easy to pass the class.

Most people found this class hard but it was easy in my opinion. Just show up, take notes, study a bit and your good. Does quizzes every other class, mid term and then final. I suggest doing great before the final because the final is actually hard and can get complicated compared to everything before. Oh and the guys laugh is hilarious!!

Professor Torfeh is such a nice guy! Design Lab is a two hour block but you can usually get out in 30 minutes. You only do about 5 slides out of the 30. If you need help he's right there. Incredibly interesting person if you talk to him. Easy to understand too.

Great teacher, mastery of subject and good teaching skills. Learn a lot even with how he allows cheat sheets on tests. I have no interest in this field and put forth very little effort (which was reflected by my grade) and still learned alot from this class and Mech-231L.

Very helpful, enthusiastic teacher! Wants everyone to understand the material and do well. Tests aren't too bad, study a little and do the homework you will be fine! At the end gives an extra credit test worth 10 WAG points and the final was pretty straight forward and easy, and multiple choice! Great teacher, take him if you get the chance.

Very fun class. He makes everything interesting and is very good at explaining everything. If I HAD to have a class at 8am, it would be his. You won't fall asleep and you will learn a lot and still get a good grade if you do a little bit of studying.

Had for IME EE Design Lab. Very easy class. He's a pretty funny guy and explains everything before he lets you start. Generally the labs are pretty easy. Pretty easy and enjoyable section of design lab.

nice guy, explains everything really well. test grading sucks, no partial credit and 1 question on every test is 1% of final grade. gave 10pt extra credit test 10th week which helped out a lot, but im sure a lot of people got horrible grades and some dropped. study a little bit and its fine.

Very great professor and nice guy. Always willing to help. He actually asked our opinion on how he could help us more and followed through. I actually learned the material very well especially as an ME. Recommend to everyone.

This class was great! I think we could've done a lot more, but we all learned stuff. You use Matrix Algebra, Laplace, and Control Systems (Feedback Systems) concepts like transfer functions in this class - so break out your old notes or program your calculator to help you! Torfeh is great for higher level classes - but go with Kaiser for lower 1

The new EE course that all ME's have to take. This class is pretty easy. Explains things well. Tests are easy if you remember to think about what conceptual problems he may ask on tests, rather than just the material. Grading scale is kinda messed up, 1 test question = 1% grade and the final is worth 40%, so dont screw up.

Too easy, so I didn't put a lot of effort into it. I still did good in the class, but I got screwed in my later classes. Final was tough, but quizzes were easy. Take him over McLaughlin though. I would study the notes and do all his homework problems so you know the materiel very well. It is the fundamental EE course.
