Dr. K is hands down the best person to take orgo with at AU. She's got an incredible knowledge base, gives plenty of examples, and is happy to work with students 1:1. Grades are the average of two exams, but with a heavy curve. Dr. K is also hysterically funny. 10/10, would take this class again.

Dr. K makes it clear what is important in class. She usually does a great job at going through practice problems and synthesis in class, but you definitely have to do a hefty amount of studying for her tests to be ready. She uses MCAT and MCAT style questions on her tests as well, but gives 20 extra bonus points per test AND an 85 is an A.

Comment:

Dr. K is wonderful! She's dedicated to her students & practically lives in the building to help them. There is a lot of memorization-but that's org. chem. Her tests do give you a chance to show you understand by writing synthetic pathways, or interpreting spectra, but most of the Multiple Choice questions are straight forward typical reactions.

Comment:

The only way to get a decent grade in this class is to memorize everything in the book and do book problems. She has a heavy accent so it is often hard to get anything out of going to class (but I still recommend going). Doesn't really teach in class and talks too fast. Don't wait til the last minute to study.

Best professor you could have for orgo. Explains things clearly and her grading scale is awesome. Keep up with the lecture material--don't wait until the night before exam to study...you will fail! Old exams will help you in the M/C section of the exams b/c the questions are practically the same, but the problems do change so be aware!!

Comment:

Orgo is an intimidating subject but Dr.K makes it completely possible to do well. I found her lectures to be confusing but a lot of the problems she covered in class ended up on the exams. Her grading is EXTREMELY easy,if you do not get an A it means you did not study enough. old test float around and she pulls problems from them.DO HW problems!

Very nice and helpful. Definitely BUY "ORGANIC CHEM as a 2ND LANGUAGE" to go along with the text- it's way more helpful and condensed. It's a big class and difficult subject, so try hard to stay on top of the material. She will always help if you need it!

The best professor I could have asked for. She takes a subject that is difficult for most students to grasp and makes it clear to understand. Going to class helps a lot cause she teaches exactly what is on the exam. I got an A in orgo both semesters because of her!!

She is so cute and gives a huge curve on everything. Her tests are out of at least 120 points. Her lectures are a little scattered but if you do the problems and quizzes she assigns, the class is not bad

She writes on the board and gives homework problems. Her handwriting is readable. However, the notes are disorganized and confusing. Use the book it's better but look at what she goes through. She teaches at a nice pace. There is a HUGE curve which is nice.
