Comment:

Good if you're a self-studier, otherwise, stay far away. He doesn't speak English very well and he has to be corrected by his students every now adn then. A lot of homework but he'll give you perfect scores as long as you try. His tests are also open notes and VERY similar to notes (sometimes uses exact problems) so take notes carefully.

Comment:

If you have no trouble learning on your own, he's an okay teacher. His examples help to clear up most confusion I had with anything but there is a bit of a language barrier. He lets you use your notes during tests but beware you DO have to know how to use everything he teaches you. A-okay teacher but some people might suffer in his class.

I took two classes from Dr. Nguyen. He was very helpful to make sure his students understood the materials. He stayed late after our classesto address any additional questions we had. His class was one of the best classes I took from WVC. I still use his excel model for my daily tasks at work. I would take his class again.

Comment:

Easy prof to pass with an A or B. Gives LOTS I mean LOTS of EC, do them, it's on the HW too. Hard to follow; heavy accent. Lets you use notes on exams, gives practice exam before the real exam. HW every week, No quiz, 4 Exams, 1 final. Nice prof overall, there to help you and wants you to understand logic and pass.

Worst teacher ever. He should not be teaching at all. He is confusing. He uses his own symbols and his own methods. He is constantly wrong. Problems ask for measurements and he leaves it as an equation bc he doesnt want to use his calculator. Students constantly need to correct his work. This was supposed to be a refresher and im more confused.

Nam Nguyen is the worst professor I have ever had. Really terrible at explaining concepts. It's like he explains the simple stuff that everyone already knows, and then skips teaching anything hard, and then gives crazy hard tests.

Mr. Nam is a very unhelpful, disorganized teacher. He is very rude and also moves too quickly. I took him for math 106, always attended class on time, stayed the whole class period, asked questions, did homework, but he was not teaching well. I had to learn most of the material from the book myself.

This by far has to be one of the worst professors I have ever taken. His English is awful, it's very very hard to understand him. He will spend at least 30 minutes on one problem on the board. The reason he gives so much extra credit is because his tests are just completely hard. He does send out practice tests but differ from the actual test given

Professor was very helpful in making sure students understood the material. He was available to help answer questions before every class and during office hours. I took this class over the summer so it was very fast-paced and there was a lot of homework, but he was flexible. Made complicated concepts manageable. Wish he taught more classes!

Super fast delivery -- brilliant math mind! -wants- students to succeed; offers lots of extra credit and by grades homework by whether or not you practice it. Brings lots of enthusiasm to the classroom, even with a tough subject.

I had him 4 Finite Math. He has a hard time making material understandable 4 students. In fact he makes material more confusing. Basically had to teach myself. Easily flustered & ignores student questions or doesn't understand questions. Will never take a class w/ him again. I still managed to get an 'A' in the class.

I passed this class, but honestly I don't know why. I took nothing away from it at all. The examples used in class were often incorrect, and he seems very aloof when anyone challenges his teaching. Open note tests are great and so is the whole class being on a curve, but does it help in later classes when we are supposed to know something? Horrible

Great class and professor really wants to help you. If you show up to class everyday, do your hw and prepare for the tests, you'll pass the class with a good grade (got a somewhat easy A). The practice tests and real tests are almost identical just diff numbers. He gives out a lot of extra credit which really helps.

Dr. Nguyen is a SMART guy, he cares a lot about his students and doesn't want anyone to fail. I failed Algebra twice in highschool prior to this class but I actually worked hard and came out with an A. He gives A LOT of extra credit and tries to give you partial points if you show your work. He does have an accent, but it's not impossible..

Pros: He allows you to re-test, More than willing to help, Don't necessarily have o do homework but you have to turn something in. His Tree Method for factoring trinomials. Cons: He is a bit hard to understand, works at fast pace, examples are a majority of the time unclear.

He is a Great Guy and loves to teach. He truly wants everyone to get and A and undertand the material. He can be hard to understand at times but he tries hard to make sure everyone understands. He gives practice exams that are very similar to the real ones..This quarter he let us take a 1 group exam and 2 take home exams!! You can't beat that!

Horrendously bad. Defaults all questions to his excel program that is confusing as hell. Doesn't explain concepts and ignores the class. Never forgets to remind everyone in his bad English that he is a PHD even though a monkey could teach better.

He truly wants every single one of his students to succeed, and is always ready to help. He gets excited about his subject so sometimes he will start to move a little fast, but he will slow down and explain if you ask him to. He gives lots of Extra Credit. Math is not my thing but putting in the time and effort will give you a good grade
