She keeps me awake the entire time; the 3 hour class goes by fast; sometimes we miss the break and don't even notice; naturally humorous and easy going. Well liked by all. Totally enjoy her class!.

Mrs.Garr is awesome. Her experience keeps the lectures interesting, and she is very kind and willing to help. Reasonable in the amount of work she expects. Weekly quizzes and 3 or 4 tests. A little bit of outside study helps. Beware her lab though, as there will be separate tests that sometimes require more studying than her lecture's tests.

This class is very lecture oriented and based soley on tests and quizzes. I emailed her for help with some of the material and just an overview I what she expects from essay answers on exams and she never spoke to me or emailed me back.yet her syllabus says any help just ask and she will make sure to help with a solution...

The class was pretty easy. Class was boring because she easily gets off topic and rambles on about her life in pakistan. Tests are long, not too hard though. Just show up to class. Not the teaching style i like.

She's very passionate about the subject and includes lots of interesting tidbits in her lectures. Some people might not like her going off topic but I found them very informative and interesting. Everything on her tests have been brought up at some point in lectures. For short answers questions, it's safer to use her words, so take good notes.

Make sure above all things that your attendance is regular and try to stay engaged during class. Pretty much everything on the tests is uttered by Ms. Garr at some point in her detailed lectures. She makes the somewhat dry text relate to interesting real-life examples. I enjoyed her class and will take another.

She's passionate about what she is teaching and provide a lot of different resources to help students to get a good grade. But her lectures are boring and she can often get off topic for a very long time. Study well before class and take good notes. Do study guides daily to help you understand what she had taught then you will be fine.

This class is awful. I'm currently taking it, and I was really excited to learn the first few weeks, and now I absolutley dread coming to class. She gets side tracked and rambles easily, she interchanges vocab terms and we students are always asking, "Did you mean to say _____?", which is really terrible when she tests us on vocab terms.

I took her lab and for a 1 unit class, it was A LOT of work. You only had a few weeks to finish each section and there are 4 sections. Use class time wisely or you will easily fall behind. She's nice, but can also be moody if you ask too many questions. Her exams will be difficult if you don't study. I'm surprised I ended up with an A in her class.

The essay portion of her tests are just un-doable. Be prepared to quote her word-for-word or fail. She treats most students like 4yo and expects you to already know the material. Nice person outside class, but should be teaching to PhD students in Anthropology. NOT a JC course. Don't take unless you're going into Anthro for your major.

Lots and lots of work. Her tests are also a bit ridiculous. Only take her classes if you are actually into anthropology. If you are just getting rid of requirements, this is NOT an easy way to go. She's very nice, but the class is way more work than it should be and is not very effective.

You know that feeling like you're in high school? No, worse... Elementary school, where you're treated like a child? Expect her to treat you like a child, laugh if you don't understand, and get yelled at for having your pencil too sharp. So I exaggerated the last one, but really, I prefer being treated like I am a responsible adult. Because i am

Nancy Garr is by far one of my least favorite teachers of all time. She reads directly from her powerpoint, which she posts online for you to print. She is incredibly easy, but could put even the most alert person to sleep. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS.
