Nancy is simply amazing. She'll talk a bit at the beginning of class, giving useful background info, then apologize for talking too much. Above average at leading class discussions, even for Simon's Rock standards, although our class was not particularly talkative. Assignments are of reasonable length and difficulty. Take class with her!

Nance is a gem. She is a wonderful professor who cares deeply about the work and her students. Taking a class with her might very well change the way you see the world. My interest in history was deepend and enhanced by my time with her. She takes the subject seriously, but really appreciates the squallor, absurdity, and humour thereof.

In "In and Out: Homosexuality and the Movies" Nance was a fun teacher. Her lectures are very intertaining and help clarify the readings. The readings are hard and very numerous, but make sure to do them anyway. There are essay exams, which surprised me because I expected take-home essays. Her handwriting is bad, but she'll read things to you.

Nancy is amazingly brilliant. She is probably one of the most academically impressive people I've ever had the honor of knowing. Further, she's amazing in class. Often she does fun things one wouldn't have expected. Such as the time she passed an old wedding album of hers around in class.

NanYan is my favorite prof I've had since being at SRC. I could have given two****s about history before taking her class, and the class almost convinced me to become a history major. She's intelligent, insightful, helpful, and nice. There seems to be a ton of reading in every class she teaches, but it's usually pretty interesting.

Nance is a brilliant woman but she doesn't intimidate.She is so well informed and has lots of details for any question no matter how specific but don't let that scare you.She is hell bent on class discussion, and always cuts herself off saying "i should shutup" in favor of class discusion.
