Absolutely wonderful teacher for my learning style. Plenty of examples, very clearly set out in class, wonderfully clear (fast moving though-pay attention!!) Pretty funny, nice person, gives good exams (hard enough to be hard, easy enough that it's possible to pass), etc. If you're taking math at U of R, try to get Naomi!

Naomi tends to spend so much time trying to get students to understand the basics of a problem, that she often has to rush through the rest of the material at the end of class. BUT her office hours are tremendously helpful. She stays past 12am sometimes and really wants you to pass the class, really cares for her students

She is just too smart to be teaching Math 142. She got her PhD in math from Harvard. Her lectures are hard to follow, and she has a hard time relating to students. She tries to cram too much information into each class that students leave hardly remembering anything. The exams are easy though. However, if you can get another math professor, try....

A most excellent professor. She does tend towards heavy workloads and long tests, though, so come prepared to put in the time. I highly recommend going to her office hours; these are one of her strong points.

She is the best Match teacher I have ever had. Very dedicated. Make sure you understand each problem she puts on the board, as she includes it in the test. So if you study, you get an A since her tests do not include any new problems she has not discussed in the class.

Professors (especially women) who refuse to water down the courses tend to get horrible ratings, so it's quite impressive that Naomi has the ratings she has on RYM. From my experience, she is quite simply one of the smartest and most dedicated professors in the school.

An awesome course from a great professor who is dedicated to teaching, but be ready to pull long nights - often. (For example, we had a midterm from 6pm to 11:15pm today and offices hours are at 8:30pm on Monday and Wednesday - with no time limit)

While she does assign a crazy amount of work, it is all useful and will get referred to on the test. Plus, she is willing to put in really long hours to make sure that everyone understands what is going on. Has some of the best math jokes ever! Definitely a bonus in a tough class.

Very thorough and relatively clear if you just pay attention. Tries to rush at the end of class to get through all the material which is incredibly annoying. Straightforward exams. She is very dedicated to teaching, and is very fair. I recommend taking calculus with her, just make sure you pay attention.

Workload is way too heavy. Our midterm was 3 weeks before the end of the semester, on a Sunday night, and over 3 hours long. I'm not looking forward to the final. However, Naomi does care about her students and puts a lot of time (albeit at odd hours) into the course.
