He teaches Classical Literature at John Jay College. I think he's an excellent professor and that you can only go wrong if you don't read the required texts, don't pay attention and/or don't show up. He tells you exactly what he wants from you and just expects that. If you don't like a challenge, then you shouldn't be in college!

Professor Alam is one of the best professors at QC. His class is fun and ignore what ppl say about the papers; he tells you exactly what he wants on the paper and he is very flexible (if you get a bad grade then he gives you until the next class to correct it for a better grade). I hated poetry but his papers are more like journals.

As another poster said, he's more interested in giving us his political agenda then a writing class. The entire course was about feminism, women, gay, and ****s. DOES NOT EXPLAIN WHAT HE WANTS ON PAPERS! He tells us one thing, then after we hand them in tells us what he wanted to see. On the plus side, we spent most classes watching movies.

haven't taken him for eng 110 so don't know about the other ratings. However, his 210 creative writing class is awesome! his critique of writing is dead on. But you should be a serious writer or be thinking of becoming one. And you must know how to take criticism as a writer!

Hard class for freshmens, lots of writing. Again, college is not high school! IN high school, you memorize everything teacher taught you, but in college, you must try to analyize the reading. Overall, if you survived his class, you will most likely have no problem in your future english classes.
