Comment:

I loved having Neal for 2900. He was hilarious and made lectures really fun. He knows what he is talking about and takes the time to make sure that you understand the material. Show up to class because his lectures are the best way to practice the material and really get a good understanding for it.

This class was the hardest one I have taken so far, but also my favorite. Go to class and take notes during the lectures, read the chapters in both books and you will do fine! No attendance, quizzes are online based off the chapter open book, only two tests half is multiple choice and half is essay based, go to his office hours and have him edit it

Comment:

He's very smart and knows his field well, but is the most arrogant person I've ever met. He doesn't teach, rather, he rambles on and on about things that don't have anything to do with what you need to know for the course. Exams and quizzes are the only grade, and he won't work with you well to better it. I recommend any other teacher over him.

Dr. Jesse is a phenomenal professor. He's a genius in political science. If you have any interest at all in politics or government you will enjoy his class. His biggest issue is that he writes out all his lectures on the board, but they're in a perfect note taking format, and he's really good at explaining ideas. Definitely recommend him.

Great guy and knows an incredible amount about his field. However his handwriting is the equivalent of a third grader and he talks way too fast to be understood. The only grades in the class are his exams but he makes them reasonably easy to pass and is willing to help study if needed. Good person, just needs to slow down and be more organized

The worst professor I ever had! He has the worst hand writing ever! He keeps on bragging about his brother and the fact that he was a tough kid in high school that everyone was afraid of (DOUBT IT!) He always tries to be funny, always wastes time, barely teaches and expects everyone to pass! I will never take any class with him again!

I had Dr. Jesse for Comparative Politics. He is very intelligent and knows what he's talking about, but his class is extremely hard. A combination of his lectures with two text books make up all of the coarse info so don't just rely on lectures. He requires you to understand big picture concepts. You learn a lot but very difficult.

Neal Jesse was one of the best professors I've ever had. Lectures were always interesting and entertaining. Exams are all essays. Must read the books to be able to pass the class. Taking diligent notes during lectures will help too. His writing is absolutely awful and looks like a 3rd graders but that's about it

I had Dr. Jesse for Comparative Politics and British Politics. His class requires hard work if you're looking to get a good grade. He is a brilliant lecturer and is a wealth of information, but you have to do the readings. His simulation in British politics could use some work, but if you put forth the hard work, you can do well.

Jesse is great! Cares about your grade and will work with you til you understand. Very fair in grading, interesting, fun, young, and sexy. Always wears sweater vests and you learn so much! Definitely a poli sci teacher to take while at BG. Go to class, read, do homework, pay attention, you'll get an A.

Great teacher. He knows what he is talking about in every way, he is more than willing to help you outside of class if you don't understand in class. Class is all note taking and outside reading. If you work hard you'll get an A. He is funny and very laid back, definitely take him!

Dr. Jesse is a fantastic instructor. The readings are assigned in large quantities, but unnecessary if you attend class. Made the material interesting, enjoyed his jokes. Tests are essay based, gives you six prompts, you memorize five, you write two responses on the exam. Easy and interesting, fantastic choice for elective course.

He was great. I entered the class not really excited about the material, but I loved every minute of it. His writing is hard to read, but just ask and he will tell you what it says (or sit up front so you can see). He does eliminate test questions using playing cards, but he gives you all the questions ahead of time. He was a fair grader too.

AWFUL!! Terrible teacher. filled every available white board space with his chicken-scratch but didn't care if you understood or not. used cards to eliminate questions on day of exam so you had to memorize 5 essays and never knew which ones would actually be on it. Obnoxious voice too. I would never recommend to anyone.
