Comment:

I had Hookey for Thermo I and it was one of my favourite courses. He is a great teacher who answers students questions very well. Although he will provide a "list" of questions you may get, make sure you really understand them because he will always throw in a twist on the exams. He has a dry sense of humour which keeps class interesting.

Comment:

He has a very dry sense of humour- hard not to enjoy. He spends a lot of class time trying to make perfect straight lines with a ruler rather than actually teaching. Overall a good prof, his tests are fair for the most part but he is a tough grader. Be sure to include your vector arrows and coordinate systems as he will take off a lot of marks.

Overall good professor. Very clear and concise on what he expects from you. The only thing you have to do is PRACTICE! It is so important if you want to do well in this class. If you do all the problem sets and examples, then you will do great in this course. The final was tricky, but what final isn't? It's engineering.

If you know how to do the tests from the previous years from his website you will know how to do the tests because they are almost exactly the same. Problem sets are also a good idea to review to get a really good mark.

Hookey's a pretty strange lad, but compared to what profs are normally like, he's relatively normal. Tough tests tough finals but that's engineering school for ya.

Smart guy, good sense of humour. Knows his stuff AND knows how to communicate it effectively to his students. Goes off on 5 minute "rants" almost every lecture, but they are usually interesting and related to the topic we're learning. Course layout and tests are very clear, but thermodynamics can be tricky! You NEED to do practice problems.

Get practice exams and tests from students who have done the course before. His tests and finals are always the same style question and he rarely puts any surprises on exams. Just do the practice and go to class, and it's easy to get an A in his class

He is knowledgable and passionate about engineering, but doesn't have time for anyone who isn't doing well in his class, no matter how hard they are trying. He didn't give out assignments, which made it hard to get a feeling for where you were in the class.

Dr. Hookey is an EXCELLENT professor! He's easily becoming one of the best profs I've had. Course is only challenging because he insists you think for yourself. He's very helpful, but has no time to waste on unfocused imbeciles. The passion he has for what he does is contagious. If you really want to learn as oppose to just pass.. Go W/ Hookey!

A good professor. His classes are kept interesting with his hilarious jokes and interesting subject matter. He's very organized and a very smart man. He's easy to understand and he will explain things you don't understand to you, even though he seems intimidating. Tests are fair and he gives you plenty of practice. But this is not an easy course.

people have a love/hate relationship with this guy. i enjoyed the class it was my best mark, go to class! and his tutourials are key to passing. he has no time for slackers.
