He is an extremely harsh grader. I liked him as a professor and the class was pretty interesting, but he grades way too hard. Ten page paper at the end of the semester plus a final.

Midterm and Final. Both of which aren't bad as long as you study for them. There are discussion questions for homework about every other week, and there is one 10 page research paper due at the end of the semester. All in all, my favorite class by far, he makes it really interesting and is a real sweetheart

He is a good professor who knows his stuff but is a very picky grader. His lectures are informative and he tries to make them as fun as possible. I didn't dread going to his class. You have 6 online homeworks that might as well be short papers and one 10 page paper due after Thanksgiving break. He grades them all very harshly

Professor Lanctot is a nice guy and I genuinely enjoyed his lectures. The problem I encountered with his class was how harsh of a grader he was. I would only recommend taking him if you're an excellent writer. I enjoyed his class but probably would hesitate to take another one.

It's really easy to do well if you follow his directions and get your work done. Lanctot gives examples of homework assignments and the long paper so you know what he's expecting. Lectures are interesting and easy to follow.

I loved this class. It was probably the most work I had out of all my classes, but the content was really interesting. Lanctot and our class got super tight by the end. He is great. You definitely have to work for an A.

Great professor! Prepare to read and write a lot, but if you like learning about an interesting subject from a great professor, this is the class for you. Lanctot is funny and really engaging. I thought this class was going to be miserable and it ended up being my favorite class all semester. Definitely recommend!

Interesting course but also the bain of my existence. Worked very hard on all homework, and studied hard for tests, but professor Lanctot did not like my writing style (never had this problem with other professors) and I earned a B on absolutely everything no matter how much time I put in. If your content with a B take him, if not I would not.

Overall, a good professor! If you're willing to put in the time and effort, you'll do okay. Get the textbooks since they're a major part of the homework and exam grades (decent reading though!). Interesting class, good lectures, and good professor who appreciates good discussions in class. Definitely would take another class with him again!

Do not take this class with this man. He ignores important events that took place during the era the course covered, and seems to only be aware of sports, television, and the atomic bomb. Extremely unfair grader. He encourages inane class discussions. I wish I could say I learned something in his class, but unfortunately that isn't the case.

I wish I would have listened to the previous reviewers; I seriously regret taking this class. I'm not sure why everyone seems to think he is an excellent teacher who knows what he's talking about. That simply isn't the case. He knows a lot about the atom bomb, television, and Levittown, but not much else. His lectures aren't nuanced, and he doesn't
