Really nice prof, but very boring to sit and listen to and he talks really quiet. Doesn't use slides which is fine but it means you have to be in class to get the material. 40% essay and 60% exam which I found a bit ridiculous. the essay topics were really hard to write about, but he was super nice and helpful when i emailed him with questions

Dude is a solid choice if you take notes and can keep pace, not that he's particularly fast, but he is a dime. The dude Is old school and works through cases with the class while exploring the theory and importance behind them,

Great class, very smart guy. You will do well if you show up and put the time in. He is a traditional lecturer, meaning that he doesn't use technology, which is fine.

Old school: does not use CULearn or PowerPoint, but that doesn't detract from his class. Insanely smart guy, makes a potentially dull subject easy to understand and fun to learn about. Sit near the front as it can be hard to hear him if you sit at the back. Don't be disappointed if you think the semester will suck after day 1, it gets way better!!

great class. he teaches you to theorize and think outside the box. there was one paper and one exam. thought it would be dull at first (not my 1st choice elective) but realized just how interestinguseful the course material was once I wrote the paper. doesn't use slides or cuLearn though so go to class or make a friend who takes really good notes

Awesome professor. He makes uninteresting material interesting. He kept going off onto tangents, yes, but they were related and helpful in making info clearer. He teaches you how to think legally, essentially. Brilliant guy. The only problem is, he is so smart that when you ask questions, you probably won't get the answer you were looking for.

Wonderful professor! especially for this class. Goes through all of the readings.. getting a good mark is easy. Fair marker & quite fun. Only set back is that he does not use web-ct. Strongly suggest to meet someone in class for note exchange incase you sleep in to keep up to date.

Great sense of humor. Does not use technology at all so be prepared for dictating notes with no visuals. Does not use WebCT and often takes a while to respond to emails. He makes up for his lack of technology by having a great sense of humor and is very knowledgeable about what he teaches. If you work hard you will be rewarded with a good grade.

corporate crime course. very well spoken professor. knowledgable lecturing skills at first year levels but interms of generating useful discussions in 4th year - lacked knowledge on actual current events. easy course to get an A but this prof ready to retire - i understand. that being said, take the course. its easy, interesting and little work.

If you are a slacker, meaning you do not attend classes regularly, do not keep up with readings, or leave your assignments and studying to last minute then this prof is not for you. He is a very nice professor and very easy going but he expects you to be an adult about it. If you are none of the things mentioned above you will definitely get an A.

Took him in second year (im now 4th) and he's still the best prof I've ever had! Wish he taught more courses. Very straightforward. Got an A+. One midterm, one exam, one paper. Excellent teaching style (explains legal principles well). Take detailed notes and regurgitate notes for full marks. Take VOD class so can pause and rewind for best notes.

Best Prof Ever. I find it hilarious that most negative comments come from his Laws 1000 course. Likely just a bunch of whiney first year students that don't know what a university lecture is supposed to be. Pay attention he makes things really interesting. His teaching method involves going through cases thoroughly, as if he is learning with you.

Sargent is a great prof (I had him for private law as well) but his corporate crime class was a little boring. If you're into business you'll probably enjoy it but I didn't really like this particular class.
