Choonoo was the best professor I've had at SUNY Oneonta. He gives a lot of books to read, but he goes into depth about what happens and describes the main points. He'll go over passages that are very important to note in the text. He is very approachable during office hours and will discuss the work if you have any questions. Highly recommend!

best professor to ever come to Oneonta. Every student should take his class at least once. Choonoo is globally known and has been taught by the greatest writers in the world like James Baldwin .. Etc he's a phenomenal professor and person. He even helped me get into Columbia Uni for graduate school. Meet him and take a class you won't regret it.

Composition with Choonoo was very easy! 2 page essays on fairly easy topics are assigned each week, and if you do bad on them, he gives you an option to correct them. He also gives good criticism on your papers. Easy, worthwhile class.

Super easy class, nothing overwhelming in terms of papers or reading. Make sure to attend class and take notes. Midterm/final are a breeze if you do this. Don't slack on papers- you're in a 300 level class. Choonoo is great for ANY class.

Super easy professor and class. If you actually read all the books and attend class then the midterm/final and papers will be a breeze. Not too much work, always try to get ahead for books since he likes to assign readings in huge chunks. Make an effort to get to know him.

When he assigns papers, it seems hard, but he is THE EASIEST GRADER. I didn't even read the books and did fine. There's only three papers, a midterm (which he practically gives you the answers to), and a final. As long as you have good ideas, good grammar in papers, and read sparknotes you'll at least get a B. Doesn't take attendance!Nice nice man

Prof. Choonoo is great! Likes to talk, but he repeats himself often so you can focus on the main points. Very few writing assignments. Make sure to actually read the books as he assigns them, and try to get ahead! Tests are easy if you paid attention in class and read the books. Lovely to talk with.

Choonooo is great! There is about an essay every week and then the final research paper. He meets one on one with you after every essay you write and really helps you out. He also lets you rewrite essays if you need to. You usually either get out of class early or sometimes don't have to go to class at all. He's great and helps you a ton!

One of the most laid back professors. He is very helpful and understanding when it comes to handing in late work. He allows as many rewrites on a paper until you receive a higher grade. Highly recommended.

Very easy course, but pretty boring. Sometimes it would just drag on with him talking the entire class. That being said, he's a very knowledgeable guy and the assignments were very reasonable (one paper, midterm, final). A pretty fair grader as long as you can back your opinion up. Buy the books one by one, because we ended up not reading them all.

This class was VERY boring. He pretty much talks the entire time and you walk out and ask yourself what did you even learn about? Tests are short answer, pretty easy though, and gives you the basics of the questions beforehand. He's a nice guy, just not that good of a professor.

Being a freshman coming into college, Choonoo was the prof. I was hoping for. He is very laid back and very, very open minded. He just loves hearing peoples opinions. Once a week we have to write a two page paper, but theyre really easy. And if you just send him an email saying you didnt have a chance to write it yet, he doesnt care at all

I'm taking his class right now and am not that impressed. He seems like a nice guy enough but I'm not sure on his grading skills. I have only written one paper for him so far, and am waiting to see what the other papers are going to be like before I totally judge him on his grading skills. Overall though the class is REALLY boring.

Dr. Choonoo is the greatest professor I've ever had (having been to Bing. Univ, Cort. ST, and Oneonta). He is demanding but upfront and direct, and willing to help anyone who will seek him out to introduce themselves. Just do the reading and participate in class.
