Comment:

I personally like Dr. Aspinwall. He has a unique sense of humor and uses lots of real life examples during his lectures. However, his tests are difficult. Do not bother studying from the text book, just use notes. Write all you can in class. He curves his tests which doesn't hurt. Expect to get a B in the class though.

I do not understand the bad reviews about Dr. Aspinwall. He is a very nice man who is very interested in what he teaches. So what if his tests are "hard" it is a freshman class, if you think that his tests are difficult just wait until you are taking classes your junior year. I think he is a great professor to have your freshman year.

He doesn't go by the book at all. His tests are quite difficult, however he is also the only teacher that was available freshman year to me to curve tests, which was quite nice. Its difficult to fail his class, or do worse than a C but at the same time, you need to study a lot for the A. NOT AN EASY A CLASS!

Aspinwall's class is smaller and you have to attend lecture. Yes, his tests are hard but they are straight from the notes and his lectures so write everything down. I was so glad I was in his class compared to the other freshmen classes, especially at the end of the year when he gave a generous curve. Take him!

Don't listen to the others. Out of all the 1st sem bio sections, Aspinwall's class is the easiest to get an A in. He seems to understand the transition that high school seniors make when entering their 1st college semester and is an amazing teacher. Just learn the lecture notes you take, I didn't even buy any of the books.I wish he taught bio II

I found Dr. Aspinwall's class challenging and annoying. Studying for hours didn't seem to help, and attending office hours only made me feel as though I didn't know anything. I went after every exam to ask how to improve, and he said that I just wasn't reading the notes enough. To succeed, record the lectures and compare notes with others.

The class was very difficult at first cause I didn't know what to expect. Nearly failed the first test but then started recording the lectures and studying only his notes. Got high As on the rest. He's a very nice man who knows all of our names by the end of the semester. Definitely take this class if you like bio and really want to learn.

Yes, his tests are hard. Do you need to read the book? no, unless you need to clarify something. He can be hard to understand and slurs, i HIGHLY recommend recording the lectures and using masteringbio. Ive learned SO MUCH in his class all the work is worth it. He's very helpful and is a nice guy. Kind of annoying in lab but his intentions are good

He talks very fast.Sometimes slurs his words together.Sometimes he takes off more points than a problem is worth (negative points).When I asked him about this during his office hours he did not have a good explaination for me and told me that is just the way it was.Does not use txt book so hard to study for tests.Whatever he says can be on test.

He's a pretty cool guy. I suggest get a good spot in one of the front rows in the middle first day of class, because that's where you'll be sitting the rest of the semester technically. He's hard to understand at times. Take really good notes, really quickly. If you can do that, you'll do fine. Look over your notes A LOT, memorize random stuff

take if u can over NORDELL, this teacher is very fair, if u study u can do well for sure, also get extra points for attending class, and get easy points through a few homework assignments throughout the yr, very funny in class, yet very informative. WARNING: he talks super fast and zooms through the material so get ready to write really fast!
