Good teacher. PLENTY of time to take the tests, you can do it in more than 1 sitting. Most of the class is matching up music to quizzes & tests - Q's like who played this song? The other q's you have to browse Powerpoint slides to find the answer. I got a B, but easy A if I did all discussions. Can retake the quizzes, other teachers less lenient.

This is a Music 1 class conducted like every student is a music major. Absurd. Realizing its a 5unit you expect to have to work but he doesn't take into account that it's 2014 and the genre of music he is covering is difficult for the average student to relate too. If you are expecting to take this class and get a good grade, think again.

His online course asks for an incredible amount of commitment and work. I am an A student who nearly got a C. Fortunately, he is very helpful and passionate and gives plenty of extra credit. He is also ever so courteous.

I am taking the online express class which requires lots of dedication. If you can dedicate the time, you'll be somewhat fine. You really have to be on top of the reading, posts, assignments, and practice quizzes, in order to pass (and pass with a decent grade.) I'm doing well, but probably won't take another express class of his.

This class requires A LOT of time and work. I just took the first test and it is VERY hard, the class average was a D and I got a C. From evaulating the test questions, it seems like he expects you to already have a background in music. I think this class would be okay if you have classical music experience. His standards are very high for a beginn

HECK NO! don't take this guy. he's nuts. if you like music, thats one thing, but if you don't know about sonata, ronatao, boalkjao and all the elements of music, then you're screwed. he expects you to be on his level. not worth a minute of your time.

Here's a tip for you taking his online class. Benkman understands that the music reviewed in the class will not appeal to everyone, but from my experience he welcomes the comments. I think its an upfront class and not hard at all. Again, the class is Appreciation...it doesn't mean you have to like it.
