I didn't find him too bad, but he definitely wasn't the best teacher I've ever had. He likes to dock off marks on little things that seem very insignificant.

Biggest Scammer at UofC. Forces you to buy the textbook just to pass. Would rather join a pyramid scheme than read another word from his garbage book.

Great guy, but the term paper is marked very, very hard, but not marked by him ( independent markers), but if you come to class and participate, he will love you. Also gives away free marks on the last few lectures.

Norm is a very good Prof. I would recommend him over other SGMA profs. You need to show up. there are bonus marks up for grabs and good material. A big group work project that you will likely fail because they want to scare all the business kids. don't be scared. you can pass with Norm and he will help you if need be. Try your best, study hard.

The level of work he makes students do, while taking marks off of reports for single periods/commas out of place is ridiculous. He sets the grading so high, that you need to devote all your time to this course simply to receive a B+. His exams consist 100% of regurgitating information you need to memorize from his own written textbook. Nightmare!

Norm is amazing. I love reading people complain about him here because if you show up (ON TIME) and do your readings, he will show you the upmost respect. If you disrespect him, he will reciprocate. Read the textbook. He wrote it so obviously the midterms are word of word from the book. Work hard on the project, its worth a lot (especially grammar)

Wow, what can I say about Norm. His lectures were nothing short of boring and his attitude pompous to say the least. The amount of mistakes he makes during class and question period needs to be addressed. Students are failing courses because of the lack of proper instruction. Textbook not used. No help available from Norm if you get a bad group.

Going to class was a waste of time. You're literally better off just reading the book. He goes over these case studies and other useless stuff that are never on the quizzes. If I had to make a suggestion, only show up to class to find out whose in your group, then look at the schedule to find all the important dates and show up to those.

Norm was very knowledgeable about the course and has clear guidelines on what to expect to get a good grade. Lectures were engaging and interactive. Lots of reading to be done outside of class, and the 2 major exams (worth 55%) are based on concepts within the textbook. One major group project for the term, and you are not allowed to choose.

Do not enroll with Norman. Not a very nice guy or down to earth fellow. Passed the course but would have taken it with someone else if I had the chance.

He is a degrading and discouraging and highly strict individual who holds himself high up in air. He wants you to follow his instructions carefully if you want to pass the course. He really hurt my feelings on the last term group project at the day of grading.

Norm is tough but he does teach you a lot. The two tests are basically memorization from the textbook which sucks. The group project paper is graded incredibly tough and if you have a bad group your screwed. Presentation pretty easy but only worth 5%. He will also call on people randomly so you need to read thechapter assigned before class always

Good luck trying to care about his content or showing up to his condensing lectures. Norm doesn't respect his students. Also don't expect the same level of grammatical perfection is his assignments as he expects in yours. What an awful course for people to be introduced to Haskayne by. Your group has the power to literally end you.

Take SGMA with Norm! He's very knowledgeable and professional. This course is heavy on group work. However, the two "quizzes" are worth the majority of your mark. You need to read to the textbook to do well in this class and on the quizzes. Many tools offered in this course to help you do well.

This course is completely useless and frankly feels like a scam. It was by far the most expensive textbook of my university career and was literally only useful for memorizing terms that would be on the exams. I write this 4 years after I took the course and still get mad thinking about it.

Norm is clearly knowledgeable about the content and is not as scary as he seems to be. This class is great if you end up with a good group. However, this class could also be a nightmare if you get a bad group since there are a lot of in-class group activities and a group report. Be prepared to memorize his textbook front and back.

Norm is scary at first, but he grows on you and is actually quite down to earth. The grading scale is savage, but the work load and tests aren't overwhelming. Try not to miss a class, don't be late and you'll survive SGMA 217.
