Though his class was somewhat difficult, I really really enjoyed it. Things I had trouble with, I could stop by his office and he would explain it for me, and she ow examples. He does take his classes very seriously, and he gives a TON of information. However, if you follow along and do your work, you will be fine.

If you think this is an actual online class, you are badly mistaken. This professor requires you to either drive all the way to Nacogdoches for your tests, or find a proctor who is not a relative or a student, and the location that you take your test in has to have both a website and a fax line. It cannot be your home. Good luck.

Dr. Markworth is, in my opinion, the best online professor at SFA. This was by far the most challenging course I've taken at SFA. You will have to put a lot of time and effort into this class if you want to make a good grade, but you will learn a lot! Four tests (proctored), several HW assignments, and group chats (attend these if you want to pass)

I took Dr. Markworth's online Astronomy course and absolutely loved it. I'm not sure why others have rated him so low or difficult. A good portion of the content is actually taught in middle school. Not a difficult class for students who are prepared for college and willing to put forth some effort to learn.

A lot of the material on the test he didn't teach in class, if you read the textbook you should be fine, but if you're not great at physics or want an easy A, don't take this class.

I took Astronomy 105 online along with the lab. This was by far the hardest class I have EVER taken. I do not recommend taking it online unless you are a super genius of some sort. Go sit in the class to save your soul and your GPA!

Lectures are very enjoyable. He goes in depth with demonstrations very often. Tests are challenging, but grades are made up with a weighted participation grade

Don't take his online AST105 course unless you live near Nac while you are taking the course. Signed up for the course and the tests must be proctored either at SFA testing center or by a supervisor. It is a huge inconvenience, he should really discover ProctorU for this course. Also, a required Night lab in Nac. Not okay when you live so far away!

Dr. Markworth was super helpful with everything he wanted done. There were a lot of homework assignments, but they were really useful when I got around to studying for the exams. Show up to class and read the powerpoints, and you'll be fine. He gives extra credit assignments to help boost exam grades. Do them! They're so helpful.

This class was not easy but that was mainly due to the amount of work required. He really tries to give you points. Participate (class discussion boards and chats) and do your homework! If you do, you will be fine. I would definitely recommend reading the text book.

The actual course work is pretty easy, but there is quite a lot. Make sure you read through the entire syllabus to know when all the assignments are due, and you NEED TO READ THE BOOK! There is no grade attached to reading the assigned chapters, but if you do, the test will be a breeze. Also, the online chats are helpful.

DO NOT TAKE. Never clear on what he wants from you. Took online and it was the HARDEST class i've ever taken. He provides barely any feedback for your exams and the feedback he does provide doesn't tell you WHY you missed it, just that you were wrong. Thinks that everyone that's in this class is as obsessed with astronomy as he is...

I can't even believe he's been at SFA for THIS long. He sucks. He talks in a monotone voice and is sarcastic when answering questions. It's like you can't even ask him for help. He has no patience for anyone who doesn't understand what is going on. He's anal about taking the online test in the library. I've never had to do that for any online class

I took this class online and I regret it. He just asks for way too much. He teaches the course like you already know what he's talking about or like this class is your major. I do not recommend him.

This class was extremely difficult with Markworth. He would go through his lessons so fast, it was as if he was speaking another language. No tutor outside of class could help and he tended to draw away from the textbook. If you don't have to take this class, don't. Honestly, this class ruined me for any other physics class.

Dr. Markworth really does know his stuff, however is not very helpful in assisting students. He is definitely intelligent and passionate about astronomy, but has a very low tolerance for students that may not be catching on at the rate he desires. He finds any question to be ignorant. The labs are the grade saver here. The tests are REALLY hard.
