Professor Berghof is a very sweet man. He genuinely cares about all his students and truly wants them to understand the topics he lectures on. He does bounce around a lot on the material and his lectures do get quit boring, but overall I'd say he is a good professor and it's an easy A.

I honestly have no clue what this class was about. We didnt write or read anything. He bounces around topics and at the end of the class you have no idea what you were supposed to take away from it.

Professor Berghof is great for an easy A. Attendance is mandatory and his lectures are boring but he takes time to explain the topics and goes over all the answers that will later be on the quizzes. No final, only 3 online quizzes. He's a nice and understanding professor.

If you need an easy A, take this class. Attendance is non mandatory. He is a very nice professor but his lectures are very boring. Everyone usually does other work in this class and he doesn't seem to care. His class was broken up into 3 quizzes and there was no final exam. The quizzes were take home, online and open book. Very easy.

Very easy going teacher and easy class. There was some reading, some quizzes and assignments as well as many short in class activities. He is very soft spoken and engages the class to participate in discussion. I recommend him as a teacher and recommend this class for the Critical Thinking requirement.

Call me crazy but I find him really good looking. Anyway, simple class but boring content. Dr. Berghof is a very nice, dry humored man and is definitely soft spoken. He loves teaching literature and is very knowledgable. Only the Porter book was used. He takes attendance but it's not consistent. Only has two online tests. I would recommend him.

Dr. Berghof is a fantastic professor! If you are struggling with any of the reading material or need help writing your 10-15 page essay , he will help you and give you a great feedback. Sometimes he assigns some confusing readings, but he always goes over them in class. He has a cool German accent and is probably the nicest professor at CSUSM!

Professor Berghof is by far one of the most approachable teachers I have had throughout my college experience. He is truly all about his students. He encourages his students to analyze the texts in their own way, so class discussion on the texts don't happen very frequently. He is an incredibly smart man.

While Oliver was difficult to understand at first (German + soft speaker) his class was very well structured (we went through 2 small books about Social Issues and one Textbook: "The Fundamentals of Critical Thinking". He takes the time to email or office hours, even with me, to help me decide on potentially changing my major!

Professor Berghof restores my faith in humanity, or at least in professors in general at CSUSM. When others use thier education to demean students, Prof. Berghof is the opposite, encouraging and guiding students, giving of his time and talent to help. Can't say enough good about him. Accent and tone of voice never a problem; my pet peeve: loudness

I thought VPA 311 was the most boring class, but this one surpasses it! European Cinema once a week, you watch movies and discuss with him (active participation) in class. Grade is based on portfolio (writing), participation, and midterm. not bad but you should withstand the level of boredom. He is very nice and gentle but speaks way softly!

His lack of organization and structure definitely leave me feeling like I hardly learned anything. He goes off on tangents and he's very hard to understand because he's so quiet. He's a nice enough guy, but the lack of organization drove me nuts and I never knew how I was doing in the class because nothing was ever posted.

Ok, call me crazy, but Berghof is a FOX. His class was good too. The content was great, but basically your final paper is what your whole grade is based on. Rest up before coming to class-- he's got a very, um, gentle voice that could easily lull you to sleep.

i thought this class was pretty good... very chill. it was euro cinema and we just watched movies each class and had a discussion on them. i'm not a film major but i thought it was interesting. he's serious about attendance, but overall it was easy and really no stress. you have a few movie reviews and a final paper due! he's VERY NICE!!
