She is an insanely hard grader so unless you're an english/lit major, don't take her. She pushes her students a lot and expects them to grow, but there's only so much growing one can do in a semester class and she doesn't seem to get that.

This is my second time taking Professor Israel. If you do not like her, you do not understand her. She is brilliant. Her classes are very difficult. You have to work for it. She is a tough grader, but she gives great feedback. Lots of papers, but it makes you a stronger writer. She is a genius and I have learned more than just English in her class.

She's a character. I took her my first semester of my freshman year & she really ended up not being so bad. She is a tough grader, but makes her grading criteria & what she is expecting very clear. I got an A- on my first paper. Get ready to read & participate. She wants everybody to do well, do the reading & you'll be fine.

She's a very harsh grader. If you're looking for an easy A, do not take this class. If you put in a large enough amount of effort, you can do well in this class. This was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken because of the amount of work, but I still finished with an A. If you can't handle a lot of work, don't take this class.

YO! DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF! Hardest class i have ever taken in my life. Every paper you get returned will look like a war zone of red pen. You will never be good enough for her. just don't do it. do you like your social life? do you like your gpa? how about sleep? keep those safe, don't take her class.

It's hard to tell how she wants papers in the beginning of the semester, but as the semester progressed it became clear. PUT TIME ASIDE FOR YOUR PAPERS she can TELLLLL. If you need help ask to meet with her. She wants to help you. FOLLOW the schedule she gives you and you will survive. take notes during her lectures, they help with her tests.

Personally, I would not recommend her at all. She is a tough grader and when she gives feedback, it sometimes sounds demeaning. She corrects assignments to the point that it sounds more like her writing than your's. However, I do have some good things to say about her: she is intelligent and picks good literature.

She has been my favorite professor so far. She expects you to work hard and try your hardest to understand the material but is fair and will give you the grades that you earn. Her lectures are very interesting, she is very knowledgeable in literature and she knows how to keep the class interested in what she talks about. Definitely recommend!

I was very intimated by prof for the 1st few weeks but as the weeks go by, you can tell she is caring. She is a tough grader and MAKES you work for it. I did very poorly on my 1st paper (I thought I was gonna get a C for this class) but hard work really pays off. Ask lots of questions, don't forget to do hw(!!!!), always bring the textbooks.

This professor is a very hard grader. I don't think anyone got close to an A-. We mostly read in class and discuss some different concepts. She is very opinionated, so be ready to get average grades (Bs and Cs) because no student's writing is ever up to her standards.

She's the teacher that will have an evil smile while handing you a D on your paper. Had her for a Critical writing class, but all we did in class was read, and she would give us papers left and right without any rubric or teaching us how to write. The readings were very interesting but she focuses too much on it. Grades for everyone were horrible.

She scrutinizes your work to a point that you feel stupid. No matter how hard you try you will get your work handed back with so many red marks that it looks like she slit her wrist and poured her blood on the paper. Extremely unhelpful, all she does is reread assigned reading the whole class. It's very discouraging, & she gives very bad grades

No. Brave soul before you think about choosing her class read these words. You may think that you write well, but to her you do not. You may think that you will do very well in her class, but in reality you most likely won't. She is not the greatest teacher. Personally I don't like her. She takes points off for no reason. She is a horrible teacher

Very tough grader; I don't think anyone got higher than a B+ in my class. I would have love if she gave a grading scheme/criteria for the essays if she is going to be such a harsh grader. Most of the time, I don't even know why I lost so much points. However, she is a very knowledgeable English professor.

It's one hell of a class. Tough grader is an understatement. Only 2 people in my class got an A in a few occasions. Shmoop and Spark Notes are your friend for a class like this. This class does stimulate interest involving romance(tragic mainly). If you're ready for an challenge this class is for you. She sometimes lets you out early.

Not an easy A by any standard imaginable. Work hard and make it show both in/out of class and you may see results. Class is always interesting. Love her as a person, but a very difficult professor. Talk to her about grades and explain yourself a little bit and she may be able to help you. Overall, it will make you a better writer with ample effort.
