Loved this class, I really wish I took it freshman year so that I would have a better appreciation for cultural anthropology. Absolutely loved this guy and am sad to see him retire

Really past his prime, a bright man but has lost touch and cannot relate to students what he wants to say. Tons of unrelated readings per week. No idea what tests would be on, very unclear what he wants you to know. Should really be retired, did not get much from the class whatsoever. regrettable course.

Sweet old man.. but when it comes to teaching..HORRIBLE. all you get out from class is him mumbbling "Um..Um.." Its extremely hard to stay awake in class and he never really makes a straight point--always going off topic. there are MOUNTAINS of readings every week when he really never explains or clarify them for the students. DO NOT take his class

Oriol is a sweet man. However, the class was not at all what I expected. His lectures are extremely boring and rarely relate to the topic. Most of the class readings were very outdated (1980s) and the "short response papers" were actually 10 page papers. Just to warn you...

Professor Sunyer is brilliant. his passion for anthropology and his expertise is truely an inspiration. i recommend as many classes as you can take with him - as long as you can handle a challenge. he's not an easy professor. all his lectures are great (i've had him for 2 semesters and back for a third)
