Comment:

Professor Kalmar is one of the better professors at UM-flint. She really cares about her students are does help you if you are trying to learn. Although she won't grade your program until it runs 100%, she makes sure you understand how to code a program entirely. As long as you work hard enough and do your assignments you will do well , guarantee.

Good class. Just complete assignments on time and you will not have any problems passing the class. Book is mandatory... you will not pass without it. Give yourself time to finish assignments.. do not cram the night before.

She takes a long time to respond to emails so make sure you have a clear understanding of the assignment well before it is due. She also grades tough; I mistakenly missed two assignments and it brought my grade down to a 68%. Complete assignments early so you won't have to try to reason with her to make them up and still receive credit.

Comment:

Very easy going and nice professor! Class is very easy just follow the instructions and you will not have any problems. Easy class, easy A, easy work. Work load is not heavy at all. Will take max 2 hrs for assignments. About 2 assignments per month that go by so fast. Very few quizzes that are simple. Take this course!!

This was one of the easiest programming classes i've ever taken. If you have perfect attendance, you get extra credit at the end. It's a very straight forward class where if your program works, you get an A

This teacher is definitely quirky, she won't allow anyone to wear perfume/cologne because it gives her a headache (understandable though) she is very laid back and go with the flow, can be good and bad but I have enjoyed the 2 online and 1 in-class classes with her. She is an easy grader.

Does not follow syllabus. If your program works you get an A, if one thing is wrong she will not grade it until its 100% correct. Do not expect any help from her. And ALWAYS bring your book to class.

The class overall was fairly easy. Professor Kalmar was not very specific in her assignments and was slow to reply via email. She was willing to help you although make sure you do the assignments way in advance because it takes a while for her to respond. Not impressed.

Her assignments aren't always clear. DO NOT buy the book, you won't need it. Class is quite easy as it is an intro class and if you have any experience in it you will do well. She is very friend and willing to help students.

This course taught me a lot about excel. Ms. Kalmar was very understanding about every day living problems we encounter. This is one of the best instructors I've had out of all the Computer science instructors. Take her if you want to succeed.

I took this class and BOY was it easy. Maybe it's because I was already skilled in the programs that we used, but it was easy. What she wants in assignments is very clear and concise. Just do the assignments and you'll pass.

Teacher was slow to respond to emails, in some cases never respond. Was upset that I didnt purchase the book for the class when it was a basic windows class and there was no need for the book.. I understand these professors get a kickback from the book sales.
