Parin was very disorganized. The syllabus was often wrong. She did however revise due dates because of this. She is a tough marker but doesn't give good feedback as to why she assigned that grade. I often received a lower grade than I thought I would and with only "GOOD" as feedback.

Be prepared for backhanded compliments if you don't do the work or present the material during class without your best foot forward. Parin is very passionate about the topics that she covers but they are so similar just feels repetitive themes As a guy, Its hard to get invested in the course when it covers mostly female POV, emotions are felt :(

Parin is a wonderful professor full of insight which challenges the way many things, such as "race" are constructed. I was recommended her by a friend who I was losing hope in finding a good prof at SFU. Lots of group work, lots of (interesting) reading, lots of discussion. I plan to take more courses with her in the future.

Lots of group work that seemed aimless, with very little actual instruction on the course topics. Criteria varied considerably between the prof and the TM, which made constructive feedback hard to find.

Parin is a wonderful professor. She shows genuine insight and is dedicated to make the material mean something to you. If you do the readings, show up, talk in class and can write decent you will get an A.. She is always available for help as well. I would recommend taking a class with her.

Took by distance learning. Material is kind of boring and slanted. If you stick to the script and write your papers accordingly then you'll do fine. The final exam was only 2 straightforward questions but you will end up writing a lot but it will pay off.

i have no comments about parin, i am taking an online course with her. the TA amie maclean is straight out of hell. she marks so hard and makes stupid remarks on assignments, without explaining her unhelpful comments. never take a class esp with that TA.

NO EXAMS, you have to attend each class to get participation marks, about 3 papers and marks reasonably, a lot of reading which you use for you papers, but she doesn't check if you have read it all. Watch alot of movies, so easy going class, not that stressful, have fun..she is helpful and nice.

She really loves what she teaches, and is incredibly knowledgable and perceptive. The group work can get tedious, but I think she is just trying to teach creatively. If you're interested in the course material, you will love the class.

She requires group work but what this class does is prepare you for the real world-where you might even have to work with other (!) Her biases are apparent but that is why students who enjoy actually engaging with interesting material and don't mind dialogue should enrol..you grade will fairly reflect your effort.

She has all good intentions and truly loves what she teaches. However, her teaching style doesn't seem to be polished. She assigns a lot of group work and has NO EXAMS.( good stuff) I did not read the texts and bluffed my book review, as well as forgot to hand in references on my paper and still got a B.

This class is as exciting as watching paint dry. Parin likes to spend a lot of time on pointless group work. Her assignment guidelines and instructions are unclear. I hated this class with a passion.

Uses group work as a reason not to teach. Assignments are generally meaningless but nonetheless extremely time consuming. Ushamedly plays favourites. Spineless students sit back while she pours out her disdain on the evil colonialists who pay her salary. A really sad person. Avoid.
