do not not not not notttttttt take this class unless you have to! i took physics 231 because i was interested in it, reget taking this now!! Lecture is pointless. maybe he'll get through on ex problem in 50 min. not. I did everything i could, and yet tests/quiz questions not like practice problems/examples at all!! expect 60% of the class to fail!

Not a bad teacher...the class is hard but yes it is Physics. He seems to be the best of the physics teachers at this school. Lectures dont really help, but go to recitiaion and study alot and you will be fine.

If you have taken Physics at all before, then this professor will seem like an idiot to you. He explains things in the worst way, goes slooooooow in lecture, and doesn't use the conventional equations. He is a bad physics professor if youve had physics before, (and probably if you havent) and I usually end up reading a book during his lecture.

Wow, he gave the worse final for 232 ever, it dropped everybodys grade by a whole grade...and he didnt curve it. Thanks Cooney. I am done with physics, no more being confused because teachers with PhD's can't teach and think they can. Retire already lets see if they can get someone who can actually teach physics in this school.

As long as you do and understand the homework and the recitation, you'll do OK on the test. He does leave quite a few "holes" in the understanding. but if you take advantage of the co-faculty for the course, and plan to study more than you ever have for any course, you'll pass.

He was unorganized in lecture...you can't tell what topic he is on besides the chapter. He doesn't give all the needed equations for the example problems. Read the book for your notes but follow recitation and examples for your study guide. Oh and he has an offensive distaste for chemistry and chem majors.

Not an easy class... but it's PHYSICS. Yes, it is physics, but we are there to learn it and he did not teach well at all. The example we do in class have numbers and on the test where everybody failed there were only letters. Nobody inderstands anything he does in that class. Too fast and didn't learn physics. Dont take him if you dont have to.

Not an easy class... but it's PHYSICS, people. Course moves at a VERY swift pace, so you'd better be ready to keep up. As long as you show you're giving effort, Cooney is more than willing to help outside of class. In the test where most of us failed, all questions were discussed in class or in recitation. Learn class examples or ask questions.

-Said it was our fault that we had the lowest test scre ever in his career of teaching, the test had no numbers -Donesnt know how to do his own problems in the book -Doesnt finish problems, and no Cooney, that is not something to be proud about, you leave us lost and confused Dont take this class! Cooney is degrading and a horrible professor.

Extremely hard class. I try my hardest and am still failing. Said we broke the record for having the lowest averaged test scores in his teaching career. There is a problem when the average test score is a 45%! Must be us. Overall though, he is a very jolly guy.

An extremely hard class. His does examples on the board, but only goes half way leaving you very lost. He always repeats the samethings over and over again. He's a nice guy, but he just can't teach. I wouldn't recomend him unless you are very good at math.

physics is hard. he is not a bad teacher. he tries to answer all your questions and his tests are hard but he grades fairly. I recommend a weekly study group with other students...it really helps! do the problems in the book. his grading curve is helpful!
