Comment:

Pat Mathews put me through much undue stress. She was the worst professor I ever had at Oberlin. Her expectations of all students' work was ridiculously unreasonable while she herself skipped classes unannounced and was generally disengaged with the subject matter.

She's great. Good lectures, nice about extensions. She's very excited about the topic and assigns really good readings which are very helpful and relevant.

Really not as bad as what's implied here. True, she could be more prepared for lectures and less dismissive of students comments with whom she does not agree... Still, she's a decent lecturer, with most lectures being a tad shallow (it's easy to turn off your brain and enjoy very pretty pictures though), but not boring. A really nice person as well

I was initially very interested in the class; it sounded like a fascinating field. Pat's obscure assignments, paired along with her unfair grading makes this class generally unenjoyable. This is by far THE WORST CLASS EVER.

She's very passionate about the subject she teaches - she'll stand right by the screen and point out "beautiful" marks in works of art from her slides. She occasionally mixes up dates and places (and won't remember titles to works of art in her slides), but her lectures are enjoyable nonetheless.
