Comment:

Pat is great at teaching - she comes up with great concepts (like stories) to make sure that students really understand and remember the material. However, she has high expectations when it comes to details, so her tests can be pretty hard. But it IS about the human body after all, so there's a lot to know and remember. Be prepared to work hard!

I'm not sure why Pat is getting good reviews but I found her difficult to work with. She's available for help but when you take her advice, and instructions, she still marks you down on exams. A good grade isn't possible with her. She also has some strange mood swings and is difficult to approach. Makes it seem like helping you is a burden to her.

Considering the layout of this class, I found Pat a good teacher. She requires detail and can be a hard marker but she is very helpful when answering questions and understanding concepts. Best advice she gave to us, make stories for the content. She is super nice and I enjoyed my semester with her. I can't wait to take Bio 1260 with her.

I love her teaching, she explains soo well. basically if you have an interest in bio, u will love her because she so very enthusiastic. It's not all about memorizing. Different at office hours though, since she is very busy. And not interested in tech (so no emailing back) i would recommended her though because her teaching is outstanding.

Blatantly rude & inconsiderate. Very tough marker. Never available for help and always unwilling. Ignores E-Mails and hands raised in class. Snappy & demanding, as well as discourages you from doing better (i.e. don't do a rewrite bc I don't have time to mark it). I love anatomy/bio but wouldn't recommend this woman to anyone. Good luck!

Good teaching methods+clarity, horrible person. Bipolar mood swings. Unavailable+unwilling to help. Does not respond to E-Mails. Uncompromising. Hostile. Impossible marker. Chooses favorites. Does not acknowledge your presence. FLAKE for scheduled meetings. I have a 97% sciences average and this woman was impossible to work with. Do not recommend.

She is amazing! She explains really well and is very helpful too. I would definitely recommend her! though bio 1160 is a hard course with weekly quizzes and lab evaluations, her lectures help out a lot and she is always willing to help outside of class.

cell bio with this instructor was really challenging . exams were unpredictable and lengthy , have to be really focused inorder to do good in this class. even though personally she is very cooperative but that doesn't make up for her extremely hard marking. as a headstart ,her final exam had more the material from the first half than the last:(

i agree with last comment...because of the extra time spent on the weekly test we got well over 10 hrs less lecture time than Hosbson's class. didn't get our monies worth. because of all the extra work she imposes, we learn less because we cannot keep up. Her expectations are irrational. Her weekly ?quizzes? take 1 hr compared to the Richmond class (Hobson) w are 15 min. Her midterm is 3 hrs compared to 2 hrs w Hobson. Her final exam time limit is unlimited; some students took well over 4 hrs. She adds so much more to the weekly material than Richmond, it?s impossible to take 5 courses. Very unfair.

I recently switched majors from Poly Sci to Science. I have no background knowledge of science at all! So if u are like me, I HIGHLY suggest reading up on some science books about anatomy in the library;trust me. At least read it one semester before taking this class. I did that and I got an A. Also study 2 hours a night. It helps A LOT!

Biology 1160 involves a lot of studying. On top of weekly quizzes you have weekly lab evaluations. There is A LOT of work to do, but Pat is a great prof and she explains everything so that it is much more clear than the textbook. Her quizzes require detail, but if you attend every class and put effort into your weekly work, the results will show

Pat is very approachable, and knows her subject really well. Pat is very picky with marking, you need to write specfic words on the quiz yo get marks, but if you pay attention in her class, and take her notes, you'll be fine. Pat explains really well!
