Very, very hard professor. Does not actually teach the concepts in class, instead expects you to teach yourself from the book before class and then just goes over the practice questions every class. Makes tests/exams WAY too long for the time provided. Doesn't let you use a cheatsheet and instead makes you memorize many VERY specific rates/formulas

Comment:

Her tests are hard and long don't expect to finish them. Her test questions are based out of the ones she assigns from the textbook so make sure to complete all them (not like her test/quiz outline). Her exam is easier then her tests, all the type of questions she asks are on her exam outline. There is a attendance mark so go to class.

Comment:

Pat Corkum is a good professor but I didn't appreciate her condescension to the class. She makes her tests and 'quizzes' so long that it is impossible to finish them during the required time limit. I don't think accounting is difficult but Pat Corkum did her best to make it difficult. A good prof, just makes you really really work for it.

Pat is a very nice person, always willing to help you out and has a ton of office hours. You must go to class and take notes if not, it will be very difficult to pass the class. Her tests are difficult usual format is multiple choice (2-4 points each), true/false and a few long answers questions. If you major in accounting you cannot avoid her.

She is not always in her office hours but if you catch her when she is she is very open to help, as long as you know what your asking and have read the book then she will be happy to explain the answer to specific questions you have. Its all tests, quizzes.. there are assignments but they aren't worth much.

I knew nothing about accounting when I started intro to accounting. Patricia Corkum is one of the very few prof's that actually teaches. She goes over questions in the books and gives practice tests, quizzes and is always fair. If you don't understand accounting, all you need to do is read the book and go to class. The class is actually so easy.

Makes things WAY harder than it needs to be, when you are taught the harder levels when you first get out into the field. Also, very confusing because she uses questions from the book, but because she doesn't like them she changes them. So you are jumping around, and cannot refer back to the book half the time. I dread taking any courses with her.

Comment:

She knows her stuff and wants you to understand life lessons as well. Though it can be frustrating sometimes due to the fact she goes away from the textbook a lot and makes up her own questions and add-ons to the ones already given she tries her best to have the students fully understand accounting and its importance.

Tough professor, but she is the best one at Acadia in the business faculty. She will take so much time out of her day just to have meetings with you, whether it be at 7pm on a week night or a Saturday afternoon. She's a prof that you aren't fond of at the time, but are so grateful to have had. She makes you work hard for your mark.

Awesome professor and great person, but makes the course very hard. She constantly changes the textbook questions because she believes that they are too easy. If you get on her good side, she will love you. For example, I tried in her class and she found me a job in the summer.
