I didn't mind this class. Do the readings and you'll be fine. She gives out cheat cue cards for every quiz and for the final have all the cue cards as well as a full sheet of paper. She can be a bit condescending, and perhaps a little racist. The quizzes are 20 questions, one-word answers, just pay attention to main concepts and definitions.

I found her very rude and condescending. Extremely opinionated and honestly made me change my whole outlook on Sociology. Would not recommend

Makes going to class worthwhile and definitely biggest bang for your buck with the textbook. Very passionate about the subject. Actually wants to see her students succeed and gives them ample opportunity to do so.

Dr. Cormack is my favourite prof this year. She's fair and really understands us as students. She makes her own text book filled with articles that you read before each class. Its an easy course and if you read the articles you'll do really well. Take her.

Cormack's the biggest beaut, didn't have any interest in SOC up until her class. She's extremely approachable and willing to explain anything if you need a clarification. All the quizzes are based on the readings, just do them and you're fine. Easy exam if you're prepared.

Certainly different from most first year classes. You read an article for the class, show up the next day, talk about it the whole time and take notes. Not bad, you can kind of get away with not doing the readings if you show up to class and listen intently, but all tests/exams are still on the material in the article, so make sure you read them!

I wasn't sure about her at the start of the year and I'm still not sure! I have trouble staying interested in class somedays more than others and even more trouble with the readings- personally I think they're bland and incomprehensible. Although, I'm sure if you DO the readings and take very good notes, you're going to do just fine.

Dr. Cormack is the reason I continued in sociology. Came to University having never taken soc., and fell in love with it when she taught it. Have made sure to take a class from her every year. She makes class very interesting, she's very down to earth and she genuinely wants her stuents to do well. Always so helpful outside of class too!

Dr. Cormack changed my life. She weaves a web of Sociology in every class in such a way that you can't help but be interested and thinking about it outside of class. This class was unbelievable, I will never think about the world that same way. If you have the opportunity, take Sociology from her!

Amazing Prof! she made me want to major on sociology! The class was interactive which made it never boring and her textbook is just a collective of articles picked by her, so you don't have to worry about useless information! She's just the BEST I'd take more of her classes in a heartbeat

Great Professor. She is great at simplifying hard readings and concepts and is a very fair marker. If you do the readings and go to class you'll do fine. So far this class has been my highest mark at X.

If I would have at least tried in her Sociology 100 class, I would have probably gotten an A-. Cormack doesn't do lectures but instead discussions with the class, even if the class is 60 students. This makes the course WAY more interesting. She also simplifies tough reads from people like Durkheim and Marx.

Definitely my favourite prof. She made me want to go to her class. Tests were easy but you definitely have to go to class and read your books. Testing was somewhat irrelevant at times. Do your work and there is no way you'll fail.

Comment:
Absolutely terrible. Clarity is brutal with a year's worth of untestable rants and the testing is worse with "answer each question in 10 words or less" and random/vague/irrelevant questions that have no connection to the topic of sociology such as "in the reading, where did the study take place?" Stupid. Is also ver condescending.

A pretty easy prof, and I liked her during the semester... but then she dropped my grade from an A to a B because of my attendance, which I'm still bitter about.
