This class was horrible. The professor has favorites. Class lectures consist of a powerpoint and a handout of the powerpoint, and she just reads the exact words. While showing us examples, the majority of the time, she made mistakes and a student had to correct her. The textbook was also a waste of money because we barely used it.

Our teacher was constantly making mistakes while attempting to teach us. There are a lot of quizzes, but not too many homework assignments. There are tutors in the WHELE building, however, the tutors even don't know how to help us, sometimes. The lab for this class is super easy though.She has favorites (those who already know everything).

Dr. Van Verth is a lot nicer than she seems at first. And even though she is old, she knows everything about computers. She always gives homeworks before quizzes, and the quizzes are just like the homeworks.

She may be old but she sure knows how to teach. She has a nice personality and the class is interesting. You can always go to her for help and the quizzes are just like the homework. Homeworks are easy and you have a lot of time to complete them.

This class is so NOT an "intro" to computing. Luckily I already know a ton about computers, or I'd already be lost. I'm still lost because she explains topics, but they're so abstract and she doesn't give concrete examples. She talks very little on these abstract topics and then just keeps moving forward, assuming we understand.

Fair, straight forward and willing to help you if you're struggling. I'm a male and I did just fine with her, as a matter of fact I thought she was firm and easy to get along with. Not necessarily an easy class, but you do fine if you apply yourself.

Don;t take her for 110. It was supposed to be an introduction to CS but ended up being much harder. Teaches like everyone is a CS major when it is an area studies VII class. If you wanna know A LOT about computers though, take her.

As far as software engineering goes - this professor seems to know her stuff. The course was fairly easy - the project was difficult, and she is helpful in her office hours. Although she does teach from overheads <which may get boring>.

Somewhat helpful if your on her 'good' side. Gives a ton of homework for the lab. and an A is a 97 // A- is a 96, so WATCH OUT BECASUE THE LITTLE POINTS COST A LOT!!
