Pat is a wealth of information and an asset to the music department at VIU. He is very meticulous and a stickler for detail. While his teaching style (depending on the subject) may come across as quite sterile and boring at times, he knows his stuff and is incredibly approachable in the event that anything needs to be explained further.

Dear god, if you can avoid having him for a class, kill for it! I've never met someone who can crush someone's love of music like this man. He was one of the largest reasons I switched majors. He is terribly OCD, and will never hear an excuse, no matter how valid. He got mad at me for having surgery and missing a test! Frick, HORRIBLE little man.

Pat is Pat.If you are nice to him and treat him like a human he will do the same to you. By all means get on his good side because it pays off so horribly well. He knows his stuff, but is boring. Takes attendance,but you can show up half way through the class.You have to take the course as a musician...just bring coffee. but nothing that smells lol

The course is sooo easy... but the only reason i attended the class was because i would be penalized if i didn't. Pat tends to stick to his notes TOO much, presenting history in a very disjunct and boring fashion. nothing flows... taking notes is USELESS. i was not enthused to go to class
