He was recommended to me when I was 19 as a man with "a lot of literary insight." I took my first of three courses with him 14 years later. I took several classes with Dr. Grant, and I wish I could take more. I have two degrees, and he was the best prof I had, without question. Too bad he can't return just to teach 410.

I'm sad to say that's it -- English 410 is gone, and so is Patrick. If anyone's interested, I have the lectures transcribed. It's true; the course is life-altering. What a tragic loss to the department. They could replace him with 200 theorists and never balance the loss.

I still don't understand him! He's obviously very intelligent but his lectures are not designed with students in mind. I don't recommend his class as it can be very unclear, but his ideas are obviously well versed.

By far the best prof at UVIC. He is also the most emphathetic; he sincerely cares. He's written alot of books, check them out - they're fabulous too. He is brilliant. I've been so inspired by his ideas. Is he married? haha.

The most stimulating class I ever took; that was years ago, but I am still intrigued by the line of thought he introduced and still reading the sources and seeking clarity on the subject. Grant's approach addresses what an education is supposed to be; a foundation for lifelong learning. Dr Grant, you have served your community well. Thank-you.

Grant is one of the best professors at UVic. He is more concerned about his students' grasp on the material than about marks. Not many professors would willingly give up a Saturday morning for a review session. Take him while you can (it's his last year). The man is a genius and you will learn a lot!

Grant has an especially subtle mind. His lectures are slow at times, but now, in retrospect, I see the genius of his synthesis of western literature and thought. Hats off to any prof who quotes Heidegger and Homer in the same sentence!

I took his courses years ago. I LOVED them and completed a Master's degree partly because of his influence. Whenever I talk about Donne or especially, Herbert, now, I credit him. I can hear those wonderful lectures in my mind. And he has even written on LOTR. What a great teacher. Thanks, Patrick.

WOW! Probably the most useful class I've taken. Grant is a phenomenal prof; his depth of knowledge and understanding of his subject is unbelievable, his lectures are consistently engaging, and he has a GREAT sense of humour. TAKE HIS ENGLISH 410 CLASS!!!!
