Comment:

Barker definitely cares for his students. He takes students advice very seriously, and outlines course assignments and lectures very well. He gets side tracked but offers good real life examples while he is at it. Lectures can be dry but Paul makes it very obvious what he'll be grading you on and repeats things so often that you will remember them.

Lectures are fairly boring and can drag on. Prof Barker tends to focus on the same subjects throughout the course of the year. Exams are hard with all written responses and not a single multiple choice question. He really loves to hear your opinion on things and loves if you play devils advocate.

Prof Barker was so much fun! As others have mentioned, he likes to hear your opinion on the topics being discussed. I took Comparative Family Policy with him (for Major in Family Studies), and this course really opened my eyes to the different ways that Family Studies can be applied to the real world.

Barker is awesome! He is not an easy marker, but not hard, right in the middle. He is helpful and likes logic. Only prof I know that will let you argue your opinion even if it goes against what he is teaching you, he will always listen.. any polisci major should take him at least once, well worth it!! Barker is awesome! Hes easy going and approachable. He gives you every opportunity to get the best grade you can. Ppl who say he is a bad prof are wrong. Best prof ever and Ive taken 3 classes with him! I will take more too. I am so glad to have met him because he makes me think academically and logically! Take him if you can No regrets!!

Amazing professor, was the reason I went to Brescia. Met him at the open house and I instantly knew he would be an amazing prof. His exams are easy if you take notes in his class. He says this will be on the exam, states the question then answers it. WRITE WHAT HE SAYS and then you will be golden. He enjoys playing devil's advocacy.

Professor Barker is fantastic. He has experience working in the field and knows what he's talking about. Very smart, yet down to earth and approachable. I adored this professor. He was the highlight of my University experience. Fair, honest, and never boring. He encouraged interesting discussion and class debate.
