Comment:

He writes very sloppy on the board and doesn't repeat what he has to say. He has an attitude sometimes but is very passionate in his work. The class is very long and he offers many exams and drops the lowest one at the end. If you are not a music major do not take this as your art credit. The exams are easy but he is broad on information.

Comment:

Barte is one of my favorite professors this semester. The lectures are long, but you can tell he is passionate about what he teaches and loves sharing it with his students. His exams are extremely easy if you attend class and study ahead of time.

Dr. Barte's lectures may be long, but if you pay attention and take good notes, you'll catch some great jokes and be fine on the tests. He gives you a study guide a week before the test and as long as you study everything on it, you'll be golden. He also drops your lowest test grade out of the five tests he gives. There's no reason not to pass.

I loved this class. Barte is adorable, the material is really straightforward, and there are no assignments. the textbook is never really used but is helpful when studying.

Comment:

Although his "air organ" is quite humerous to watch, the Barte Party is highly UNcreative when it comes to planning exciting lessons. Every class is exactly the same: Barte writes info verbatim from the text book on the board, reads the info in an extremely monotone voice, plays a few listening examples, then erases the board and starts over again.

This is an easy class, as long as you read the book (it's really not that bad, shortish chapters) and complete the study guide he sends out before each exam. He's a nice guy, and accepts early drafts of papers, but you only need to submit one if you find writing papers difficult. He's VERY enthusiastic about the organ (it's his instrument).

I love this man. Awesome teacher. Easy to follow and he knows his stuff. Anyone who can just sit down and bust out Bach's well-tempered Claviers to play for quick listening examples has to be good.

Very mild-mannered, quiet man who obviously knows what he's talking about. Sometimes he has a tendancy to 'drone' during his lectures. When his spirits are up, you don't want to miss his jokes...while they're few and far between, their good.
