Groarke takes a lot of heat because of how hard he marks and how he expects students to try and find answers on their own, however, he is by far one of the most knowledgeable and interesting profs I've ever had. Do the readings, go to class, and participate and you will do fine. This is university folks it's supposed to be challenging

Groarke is a very mean man who takes his own problems out on his students. He is a horrible professor and I strongly urge that no one takes any of his classes.

He is extremely rude and condescending. He makes people feel uncomfortable on a constant basis and doesn't seem to care that he makes anyone feel that way. He is so pompous, always talking about how he can say something because he is a lawyer. He does know what he is talking about, however, I would not recommend taking one of his classes.

I have learned more about criminology from Dr. Groarke than any other professor in the criminology dept. He makes the material fun and very interesting. I would highly recommend taking any of his classes to anyone.

Prof. Groarke's classes are very interesting. However, it can be very difficult to follow his train of thought. Asking him to clarify usually leads to more questions rather than a straight answer. Also I am not a fan of his oral quizzes as he tends to rephrase frequently :S He can be intimidating but overall his class is worth the effort.

Pre-conceived notions about him, however, he's a very nice person if you actually work hard in class and take it seriously. Always willing to talk to students, and he will talk, talk, and talk. Cares about students success. I'll miss watching his movements during lectures.

Groarke is very intimidating at first, however, I have learned more from him that any other professor or teacher I have ever had. He has so many interesting stories which make the material fun and interesting. Would recommend him to anyone as he teaches you lessons not just regarding the course material.

I think he is mean. class average was very low. He is really repitive, his midterms are extremly hard and the class average was low on them. He is not funny, and you can tell he tries to be nice. He is boring and rude. And in univeristy you should be allowed to go to the bathroom whenever you please, i cannot stand this man.

I really loved Dr. Groarke! He may be a hardass, but this is university people! Get used to it! He expects you to be succinct and say what you mean. He'll call you if you don't. He worked on the human rights tribunal, and has loads of experience. He may deviate from the topic, but that's how you learn interesting things!

Great prof. At first, I was intimidated by him and the first impression I got was that he was a hardass jerk but I stuck around regardless and now it's my fav class. He's understanding about assignments and as long as you read some and go to some, the quizzes and tests aren't too bad. He's down-to-earth, funny sometimes and I learned a lot.

Very itimidating. I dropped his class. Hes such a jerk and hes not approachable at all. I may take his courses later on but definatley wayyyy to intimidating for a first year course.
