Comment:
Dr. Lukacs connects with his students in an incredible way. He learns information about his students (like sports they play) and uses this information to relate the lecture material to students' interest. It's a lot of reading, but you can get by without doing it; everything on the tests comes straight from lecture. Absolutely phenomenal prof!

This class is super intensive, but one of the best I've ever taken. The structure of the class is set up like a story which makes things very interesting. We read 11 books, had 2 papers and a huge final paper, and weekly quizzes. Drops the lowest two quizzes and he is super accommodating and ready to help. 2 exams, very straightforward. Recommend!

11+ books, 2-3 papers, 2 exams, one weekly reading quiz. Took this class fall of freshman year and it took up a ridiculous amount of time. Great in-class discussion (class will probably be 10-15 kids) although I was the only guy. If you don't mind reading, the class is straight forward but do not take this to skate through your second level.

I took this class as a freshman because I got AP Lit credit from high school. We read 11 books over the course of the semester so make sure that you buy all of the books before hand because you have to read before every class unless there is an exam. HEAVY reading load so be prepared. Has good perspectives though!

Literally the worst professor I've ever had the displeasure of taking. For starters, the amount of books he makes you read in a short amount of time is comical. It's as if he doesn't understand that you have other classes, let alone A LIFE. Secondly, he is both rude and arrogant. I could go on for days talking about how truly awful he is.

Prof Lukacs is a great professor. He does have a lot of knowledge. But, he is often very one minded and sticks to the same themes throughout the course while ignoring other significant themes in the books. There is a ton of reading so make sure that you stay on top of it.

If you don't like reading DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This man makes you read ELEVEN BOOKS. Aside from this, I thought his lectures were really insightful and this class got me enthusiastic about the subject even though I'm not the biggest fan of English

Dr. Lukacs teaches an amazing class. I respect him the most out of all my teachers this semester. The toughest part was keeping up with all the reading he assigned. The papers and exams bring your grade up a lot though, so even if you don't do too well on the quizzes, you should get at least a B. If you like English, you'll love this class.

Professor Lukacs is my favorite professor. He expects a lot, but he really does help you get through it. Personally, I don't think he grades too harshly, I'm basically illiterate and I usually get B+ or higher on my papers. He isn't arrogant, just hard to read. No matter what you say you get the same response: "Fair enough."

Really really nice teacher. He is a tough grader, but you will become a better writer and will be able to think abstractly. He is not at all arrogant, he just has a very different personality.

He has a really well planned-out syllabus, and makes some very intereseting points about the readings. He assigns a lot of reading, but you don't necessarily need to do it- Sparknotes will get you atleast a B. The books are really intereseing though. He's also super helpful, and pretty funny. He makes the class pretty enjoyable.

worst, class, in the history of Loyola. Teacher is extremely arrogant and set in his ways, does not listen to student's opinions and only looking for his own attitudes to be regurgitated back to him. Why not teach a new class, because by now you're as boring as the lectures you've been repeating for the past 20 years. Avoid teacher, at all costs

His class involves a lot of reading, but you have to know what he thinks about the book in order to do well. He is a little arrogant, but overall the class was interesting and he is a good professor.

Ok, if you can handle reading 11 HARD books in one semester, go for it. You really should, because he's the man. But these are HARD books we're talking about, make sure you're ready.

Very smart guy. A LOT of reading required, but the books are all good and it's an interesting class - you can learn a lot. If you take good notes and go to class, papers and exams shouldn't be difficult.

It is an awesome class and an awesome teacher. You have to do a lot of reading and at times it might drive you crazy to read 200 pages for next class and 12 books... but its worth it, seriously.
