I love him as a person, he's so interesting and fun to talk to. As a teacher, however, he's extremely difficult and doesn't do well demonstrating what you're supposed to be doing. You're just told to do it like the examples he shows... but no steps are shown, just the final product. If you are confident in your drawing skills, you'll do fine.

Pitt is an amazing guide but he tends to beat around the bush when he lectures. He easily diverts off topic and could easily spend 20 minutes instead of an entire hour explaining a simple concept if he focused. If you're a fairly good artist, you'll probably like him but if you're struggling and not confident in your skills, I wouldn't recommend.

This is the second class I've taken with Prof. Pitt. At the beginning of the semester, I dreaded it. I did poorly in his Drawing and Comp class. But in this class, a class he actually enjoys teaching, I've learned to appreciate him and I've actually learned from him. Can't wait to take his second semester Ceramics and his sculpting classes!

Mr. Pitt is a good teacher. However, the majority of ART 400 is less about learning the basics of sculpting (3D design and working with basic sculpture materials) and more about learning the specific mechanics of two random things (a firestarter and a flute). I enjoyed learning about woodworking tools but that was not why I took the class.

I've dreaded this class everyday of the semester. He's very frustrating, but he does make you better because of how critical he is and the various techniques he shows you. He drove me nuts though. Do. Not. Take. Him.

I am not a sculpture fan, but Pitt made the class pretty fun. He will walk you through step by step and he pushes back deadlines when necessary. Also, he's a great hypnotist, and he'll hypnotize you for free.

I have had Pitt for 3 classes now, and I have a lot of respect for him. He LOVES his trade. He is warm and friendly with students who try hard in his classes. He is great in Anatomy Drawing and Ceramics. Comp I hated b/c I could tell he didn't like teaching it. BUT, I learned so many great things from that class. my favorite teacher!

I was not interested in any kind of art, but he made it interesting and was not "blah" all the time. I liked that he told stories and included extra facts to keep things not so boring. There is no textbook, only a big study guide ($3.85). All you have to do is pay attention during lecture and study the study guide. I choose him over anyone else.

Personally, I LOVED this teacher! The class was really easy, and he had a fun sense of what might interest his students. I had such an easy time on the final, that I had several nightmares later in which I dreamed that I had completely forgotten about the test! Take this guy over Choate any day of the week, I regret nothing from Dr. Pitt's class.

It is EXTREMELY hard to get an "A" in this class, but I feel like I learned a lot. Very nice, but hard. I came out of the class with an 89, but it wasn't easy. And, don't expect to get out of class early. He will keep you to the bell every day.

No matter how incredible a young, budding artist you are, your joyful countenance will surely be quenched about a week into the Pitt of Hell's class. I think it is, quite literally, impossible to come out of this class with an A. First week of class he got down on his hands and knees and crawled around on the floor.

Worst art teacher I've ever had. He always seemed negative and critical--he pointed out everything you'd done bad, but never said anything you'd done well. Confusing and generally unpleasant class. Got exactly 84 on every assignment but 2, so I essentially gave up half way in the semester and resigned myself to my fate. Life was easier after that.

WEIRD!! who uses a microphone in a class of 40? Multiple choice part of test... always answer False because he puts too many twists in them!!

His name describes him very well, the Pit"ts. Most boring teacher ever (and I like art). Let him stick to making pottery. I think he's been a little too close to the kiln.
