Honestly, shes overrated. I dont know why everyone expresses such kind, over-the-top opinions about her, because she isnt all that. Granted, shes written and published poetry, and some of it is very nice. But nothing to make her have an entitled outlook on life, and her students. She didnt provide helpful feedback, and didnt control her class

She is the best professor ever. Work with her in any way you can, she's seriously amazing. The class has heavy reading, but it's always worth it and interesting. And she's amazing.

Barbara is one of the most generous poets you'll ever find. She's extremely popular as a Major Professor among the graduate students in the department. She gets published a ton, and she keeps an eye toward publication. You can learn a lot from her.

Take this professor if you want to become a better poet. One poem is due every class (I had it once a week), plus you have to read a few poems and write some comments every week. She picks great poems for reading. Wonderful personality and a truly enjoyable course.

had her for poetry. she's a damn cool lady and she writes a mean poem. i learned a lot and she was eager to praise and assist you in any way she could. i didn't do the reading and in the end it hurt me b/c she gave stupid quizzes that i thought were hard even when i did do the reading...but she made me like poetry much more than before
