Paul is such a fun, outgoing guy. He is a very passionate explorer who offers real world anecdotes to guide his course along. He shows you his real self and will tell you about his family and his life. He is quite possibly the smartest man I have ever met and he is constantly teaching me. You learn a lot more than just geography from his class!

Comment:

Dr. Rollinson is the type to use every minute in class. The class is very difficult. Your final grade will rely heavily on both textbook and lecture material. He is very funny, but still gets to the point and tells you what you need to know. Rollinson himself has been all over the world and is VERY knowledgeable about what he is teaching you.

This was the hardest class that I have ever taken. Professor was mean and if you asked a question then he would make you feel dumb when he answered. Hard tests, I am an A student and got a C in the class. Never got above a C on any tests. Would no recommend taking.

Comment:

Rollinson isn't the teacher for everyone. You need to go to class and take notes on his lectures in order to pass. I never read the textbook but it would help. The only thing you are graded on is four tests which are hard, but if you pay attention in class and study you'll do fine. The final is placing 25 countries on a blank world map.

4 exams and a final are the only grades. Exams are difficult. Lecture information is alway irrelevant to what is going to be on the exam. Lots of reading about information you will most likely never use again in your life.

He teaches the material fine, you definitely need to pay attention in class AND read the textbook and online materials. He is a rude person, not exactly pleasant in class, but a good teacher. I won't make the effort to take him again.

He always talked about stuff unrelated to the lecture and was rude to students who had questions by making them feel dumb for not knowing. His tests are pretty hard and his lectures don't really help with the exams. Four tests grades and a final are the only grades.

Learned more about planning than I was expecting to in this class! Professor made something that I was completely uninterested in completely interesting. Had good viewpoints and kept things interesting.

Dr Rollinson is an excellent professor who is very knowledgeable about his field and cares a lot about it! He won't bend over backwards to help you out though; if you don't show up to class or don't do the readings, you probably won't do well. He isn't afraid to say what he thinks, so if you take a class with him, be ready to be offended.

If you don't show up for class and then ask him what you can do to better your grade he will tell you show up for class. You cannot skip lectures and you better be a good note taker. If you do your job; show up, study, and focus you will get an A. If not, your loss. Good lectures not boring if you want to learn. Expect to be treated like an adult

So far my favorite class I've taken in college. People give Rollinson a hard time because he is not afraid to call you out if you are not paying attention. If you like skipping don't sign up with him. I found him extremely knowledge able and helpful if you're willing to take the time after class to ask for help. Wish I could take all his classes

Radical Brit who will make fun of you if you don't know the answer. I signed up for the class to learn about geography, not to hear about how the world is ending every single day. I could never make higher than a C on the tests no matter how hard I studied. I don't suggest it.

Rollinson is a hilarious professor! He likes to talk about about London a lot(Which is where he is from). He says he married a dirt farmer from Springfield. He sounds really arrogant and always makes remarks about people in the agricultural field. But definitely worthy taking!

Dr. Rollinson likes to keep students from simply regurgitating information on the tests. His tests seem to be more application based than is usual for a 100 level class. He is a reasonable, interesting professor. Some information comes out of the textbook, but the majority comes from his lectures and general concepts he covers in class.

Possibly the worst class I've ever taken. I studied for his tests and attended class faithfully and never got above a C on his tests. I have a 3.6....I don't get C's. I would never take a class with him again.

amazing professor. really makes you think and open your mind. a lot of people think he's egotistical but he really knows what he's talking about and i think it comes off the wrong way. His tests are super easy if you go the lectures and study moderately well.

Fiery, but easily side-tracked, and will call out students for wrong answers, environmental insensitivity, geographical ignorance, or general apathy. He is a bit of a doomsayer, and makes sure to steer his lectures toward the subject of the planet's environmental future whenever possible. No busy-work; just know your stuff for when test day comes.
