He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He goes beyond the typical teaching roles of a professor and tries to make real, personal connections with all of his students. What I liked the most from his class is that he encouraged us to be creative. As someone who dislikes formal essay writing, I enjoyed doing the assignments.

Paul is very caring, passionate, and inspirational. He is not the conventional professor; of course he wants you to develop into a good student, but he also wants you to develop into a kind person. He allows for maximum creativity and encourages you to take risks in order to learn something about yourself. Highly recommend.

SUCH A GOOD GUY!!!! I love him, he's so kind, caring, and intelligent. He is very open minded, and is always willing to lend a helping hand. He's truly one of the best profs that SFU has and I wish I could take more classes with him! Highly highly recommend!

Paul is a genuinely one of the sweetest professors I've had. He cares deeply about teaching and allows for students to explore literary works through creative projects instead of essays. He gives detailed feedback on graded work. He is a fair marker, and genuinely cares about seeing his students succeed. Take a class with him before he retires!!

One of the only professors who has the ability to leave an everlasting impression. He creates a safe learning environment. He allows you to truly be yourself & that in itself is refreshing. The students who are commenting on his "pointless" stories clearly did not understand that each anecdote served a purpose and related to the lecture. He's a gem

Paul is a great teacher! He is willing to put in the work if you are. He will provide you feedback on your essays and builds an atmosphere to promote teaching opposed to the standard "getting through the curriculum" many teachers offer. English was never my strong suit, but Paul made me feel confident to continue writing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

After taking this course, I became a huge fan of him. His lectures may come off as radical at times but his ideas are very inspirational and thought-provoking. And you can literally see he's really passionate about teaching and don't be afraid to take advantage of his office hours. He's very accommodating and provides in-depth feedback.

Paul is passionate and genuinely seems to enjoy teaching. He is helpful a sense that he offers extensive feedback on essays and assignments to help you do better next time. He is also an easy marker, oh, and there's no need to attend every class, participation matters but you'll get a decent mark without going to every class.

Comment:
Paul is eclectic. His passion for the topic is clear. For students however, the material is difficult and complicated to process, let alone write about. Little room for personal interpretation considering it's his lectures, reading his textbook. Very helpful nonetheless. TA's are not willing to mark easier, but still use them for guidance.

Paul is an amazing professor. He deeply cares about his students and provides students with the best feedback and help. Paul is highly intelligent, passionate, kind and a great lecturer. What makes Paul so unique is that he allows his students to demonstrate their learning in a creative way (creative writing instead of essay). Best prof at SFU!

Paul is a very boring teacher. His lectures are as interesting as eating a whole dry stale hamburger bun. Not only does he not talk about the course material in lectures he does not seem to know the material for the Pros Genres class. Would not take again.

His lectures are very off topic and communicate little to no information that is of any relevance to the course. If you enjoy a prof who rambles, reads directly from the book, and has troubles organizing the entire lecture than you've chosen the right course.

Paul is the best professor you could possibly have if you have a very creative mind. He is open to different mediums of academia and he has an appreciation for them. His dedication to his students is so touching and we all appreciated how understand or compassionate he was towards time management. He is just amazing.

The lectures were almost completely off-topic (literally). We talked about the professor's personal life about as much as we did the course novels. However, he's a very nice, accommodating professor & I would definitely take another class with him again.

Very nice man, the only thing is that his grading is not on the easy side, but it's not unfair either. He's VERY open to creativity, so you can make prior arrangements for your papers, and instead make the paper into a project. Very understandable, and easy going.

This man was neither funny nor interesting. And his class was absolutely not informative. I would avoid him unless you A) Have no personal opinions or advanced knowledge concerning life and/or literature. B) Enjoy rambling, pointless lectures and lots of useless anecdotes. Oh, or C) Want a four-credit nap time.

Haha this class was sort of a joke. But St. Pierre was great. Even though the class was absolutely not mandatory.. I found myself wanting to attend just to see what he would come up with next. Very interesting course content. I loved learning about it. But I found the tutorials way more helpful than his lectures. But he was alright!

Love this guy, shows tons of youtube videos in lecture and the whole semester is really easy going with him. Never picked up the textbook once for this class and ended up with a A-. Just do well on both assignments and your set. BTW no midterm!
