Comment:

Definitely made a mistake taking Ancient Greece with her. Way too much reading in very short spans of time. Nothing is very concrete, the course is not easy to follow. Slideshows aren't helpful at all, and expects way too much from a 200lvl class. Although she is kind and thoughtful, I did not enjoy her teaching style at all.

Comment:

Professor Debnar was very helpful and supportive during my first two semesters of college. She taught most of my courses throughout that first year including Athenian Democracy and the second half of Greek 101. She is kind, helpful, and a little aloof, but she cares a lot about her students and the quality of work that they submit.

This class is very hard but you will learn a great deal. Paula is a genius and knows everything there is to know about Greek. She went out of her way to help me several times throughout the semester when I was struggling. She doesn't have much patience for slackers, but if you put an effort in she is more than willing to help. Highly recommended.

Paula is a genius. Her class was tough, tons of reading (The Aeneid in 2 days), lots of pop quizzes, but it is definitely worth it. Her lectures are engaging and you can tell she is truly passionate about what she does. A truly inspirational woman. If you have any interest in classics, you should take her class.

Paula is an incredible professor. She recognizes the challenging aspects of her classes, especially in her upper level seminars, and is willing to do whatever it takes to help students succeed. Had her for the entire year. Wonderful teacher, constantly quizzing you to make sure you know the material but a great professor. Invested in teaching her subject and helping her students, Homeric Greek was fun (albeit challenging at times) and I really enjoyed Debnar as a professor!

She is not understanding at all that I am having a tough semester, i.e. sick and dying family members all over the place and maybe that infinitives are not my priority. Frankly she is pretty cruel. But I guess half of it is that I am not motivated; I won't lay all the blame on her.
