Took her class online during a short summer term. I never met her, but through her lectures, she sounded very knowledgeable and passionate. Since it was an accelerated class, we had a short assignment due every few days. I don't like history, but this class was actually interesting to me.

Great instuctor! Passion draws students into the course material. Even though the topoic was not my first choice I loved the course. As a graduate student in History I can confidently say that Prof. DeVos is one of the best instuctors I have taken a class from.

She doesn't always follow her syllabus. Always falls behind. Groups are required to give a 20 minute presentation, but she allots 10-15. Might be nice, but her mandatory lecture is all over the place and will make you fall further behind.

De Vos seems really nice but I have some issues with her. She ALWAYS falls behind & because of this will keep u until the last second of class. Exams w/ no study guide are graded rather ambiguously. Terms & question are essay based, require a who, what, when, where, why, and if you go off on a tangent that she likes, be prepared to explain that too

Great Teacher! VERY VERY helpful! The class is a reading response every week, 2 midterms, one in-class final, all essay format, and one final paper. Very interesting class, I learned a lot! Would definitely take her again :)

I don't know. She seemed a little scattered this semester. It was hard to get a lot of feedback for a professor who is quite particular about the way something is written. She really made me question my writing abilities, and not in a good way. Mostly, I spent my time trying to figure out what she was looking for, so I could give it to her.

very sweet teacher, extremely helpful. Class seems harder than it is and for a 500 level class, it's not bad. she is also very understanding if personal problems come up during the semester, as long as you let her know.

De Vos is so sweet! She does get sick sometimes, but she is more than willing to help you if you need it! There were 2 exams (all writing) and weekly papers as well. Seems like a lot, but goes very quickly! I would totally recommend her!

Really great teacher. Modest and approachable is definately a good description of her. Stay up with the readings(which is a lot) and do the weekly papers. She grades fairly and is willing to work with you if you have problems. I loved this class. She keeps it interesting and fun. I want to take another one of her classes.

Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She knows a lot about everything in the colonial history realm. Reading is tough and substantial. Must keep up on readings and weekly papers but will help on tests. Don't take this class if you can't hack it.

Prof DeVos is an enthusiastic, fun prof. The amount of reading and work is substantial, and it is nearly impossible to get ahold of her outside class (never checks email or returns phone calls). She is modest and very approachable; made "methodology" an interesting topic, and class comfortable.

One of the best teachers I've had. She really cares & knows what she's talking about. However, she is a hard grader. Do the work and you'll do well. Lots of reading & weekly assignments for 550!!! Other than that its an easy class, show up & take notes!
