Comment:

Do not take this class for an easy A. You will work every point. There's a one-page journal each week, two 5 page papers, a long midterm, a 6-page final paper AND an 8-page final exam. Someone please lmk how this is a 200 level class?! Anyway, shes nice but this is way too much work. It's also very disorganized.

Comment:

Professor Rangel is kind, but the class is so boring. All we did was discuss what was read, if anyone actually wanted to talk which rarely happened (cause nobody read the chapters). We would sit there for most of the time staring back at eachother, while shes spoke to us. Video days are the good days. Midterm is online. Easy A, just boring.

By far the most boring class I've taken. Good conversation every once in a while, but her lectures are so boring. Must participate a ton to get a good grade. I participated at least once a week but still got a low B in participation. Didn't read any of the books, midterm was online, and spent class watching movies. Would take online if possible!

Comment:

Rangel is a sweet lady but is SUPER BORING. She barely has a plan for each class and if she is stumped just asks random and badly worded discussion questions. We often watched documentaries, but half the time we just talked about text readings. If you don't plan on participating, don't read, but she does grade on participation.

We did pretty much nothing in this class but talk the whole time. We were given readings every week out of a bunch of books she told us to buy but i didn't read any. There are questions on the midterm but other than that it doesn't mater if u read or even have the book. The final is take home and easy written report. This professor is so sweet

Overall her class was pretty easy.. Most classes were just open discussions about different topics in the books, movies, the election, celebrities, etc.. Not many grades so make sure you show up and talk some to get points. Final is take home and midterm was fairly easy. One powerpoint presentation and weekly online blogs. Didn't use the books much

The material for the class can be super interesting, but Professor Rangel is far from that. She can be very boring while she lectures, and all she does is speak at you. Hope you get classmates that likes to participate, because that is the only way the class will be fun and interesting.

This prof. gives few assignments and has a grading scale. Be sure to start off strong as you would finish. Also make sure you ask a lot of questions for clarification on her syllabus/exams (the information provided is not fully detailed) I had this class once a week, lectures were long and boring always bring your laptop to "take notes" ;)

Kind lady. Mid-Term exam was more so facts (Ex: dates). Have to do your readings (Articles and Novel). Participation in class matters. Final project is based on novel. Final exam were essays (Little Blue Book) on articles we were assigned to read. Took the class Spring 2014. If you stay on top of your stuff and actually read, it's an easy grade.

You will learn 10x more about her personal life than anything having to do with Women's Studies. Hard to stay interested in her lectures, rambles on. She does play some interesting videos. First paper (two pages) you write is on a very good/interesting book. 8 page research paper due at the end of the semester, I only wrote 6 and still got an A.

One of the nicest professors I've ever met. She gives a clear syllabus of every reading that is expected for the entire semester along with the 2 papers. All that she asks is that you read and participate in the class discussions which really is not asking for much. She does speak in a soft voice so pay attention and take good notes.

She is the worst teacher ever people!! I feel so bad for other students that are going to take her in spring . She doesnt know what she is talking about all she does is talk which i find very annoying and hard to follow her lectures! There are no powerpoints that you can take notes from . She doesnt give study guides. I learned nothing

She's very nice, but the class pretty much sucked. It was a 3 hour night class, there is only a midterm, a final, and 2 papers. All you do in class is talk and watch videos, & while it may be related the the class topic it isn't really useful to the tests. I wouldn't recommend the class

Class is mostly discussion of the text and videos, when we ran out of things to talk about, she opened the floor to any topic we wanted, which was cool. When someone has a question about the due dates we spend 15 minutes asking questions because her answers get more confusing as the questions go on. Only 4 or 5 grades in the class.

This class was awful. Grade is 2 test, 2 papers and participation. Teaches things that aren't related to women (ex. illegal immigration, atheism) exam based on readings from the book that were never discussed in class. She posted the wrong textbook online and then told everyone we had to buy the new one halfway through the class. Don't take her.

She has a kind heart, but very spacey during class. The class is based on discussion and videos, and the midterm/ final are based off of the book/ discussions. The midterm and final are the only two tests in this class- they are difficult, but she is a very easy grader. There's also a book review and a power point presentation as well.

HORRIBLE. She does not seem to know what she is teaching. She lost my 5 page essay Doesn't use proper terms for things(ex. "people we know" rape?) Teaches by watching movies and her own opinion not fact. Stopped lecture to yell at class and threaten to take away cell phones. Attendance is mandatory. I could teach better than her and im a sophomore.

good: easy class, watch lots of movies, "need" book but easy to bs BAD: she is by far the worst teacher ive ever had. was looking forward to this class, ended up being the worst CLASS ive ever had. terrible. you never get out early and she has no idea what shes doing, does nothing to mandate the class. i was extremely disappointed.
