Found her to be a really intimidating prof. She knows her stuff but she's not afraid to tear a strip off you. Very lecture heavy and posts no notes or anything online. Assumes you know things rather than explaining some of the basics - which makes it a very difficult course if you haven't taken the intermediate accounting courses. Lecture heavy.

Is not accessible while taking online classes as she says that it is unfair to people giving exam from different location but whom to approach then? I found her evaluation criteria better than how it was when I had dropped Accounting earlier. Doesn't explain much apart from usual PPTs and some of her readings.

Comment:

Pauline was a great instructor. Really knows the material well, and gives great examples in class. Not a difficult course overall, and attendance isn't mandatory, but a lot of notes are missed in just one class. Tests were very fair, and she provides multiple practice tests from previous terms. Would recommend any tax/accounting course with her.

Terrible, terrible, terribly. Currently taking Busi 6100 online with her and it is horrible. The test questions are so hard, nothing like the practise tests or questions assigned. Do not recommend taking this course with this professor. I'm normally do really well in accounting but my guess is im going to have to redo this course.

Do not take a course with Pauline. Any other prof could teach the class better than she would. Way too fast to understand, not even a slightly easy course but she makes it impossible to do well. Marks very difficult and tests are hard.

Pauline definitely knows her knowledge in both accounting and tax, but she can appear to have trouble explaining it. She is more than willing to help, though. She'll let you know what to study and what has caused trouble in the past.

If you show initiative Pauline is very willing to help. Can come across as a bit harsh or intimidating but I think that's just her personality and she does want students to succeed. Better show up to class and come prepared and awake because she does notes and examples very fast. Tests are very similiar to the sample tests online.

Her lectures are pointless to attend. She simply quietly reads and re-writes slides and is SO un-organized in solving problems on the boards (seriously, the board is a huge mess). She likes to put trick problems on tests. No longer allowed to write in tax book, which apparently saved students in the past. Not very nice either. Only plus is no final

Pauline was not clear on what material would be tested on exams. She would give you sample tests and problems and the test would have different material on it. She would also reply to emails in a very rude manner. She did not explain concepts in class, instead she just wrote out the answers to problems so fast that it was a challenge just to try to

I took this course online and I highly recommend taking it in class instead. Tax is a tough topic to learn, and Pauline refuses to meet with her distance education students if you are in town. She is very slow replying to emails, even during exam time.

Great course! Well developed and I learned a lot in the course. Pauline was always available to help and gave lots of great feedback on exams and assignments Feedback was also quickly turned around. I have no idea how the previous student could say there was no feedback or she was slow in responding. I found the opposite.

Took this course through distance...HUGE mistake. She made a prepackaged auto-pilot online course with a jumbled together custom text that bounces all over the place. Almost ZERO feedback from her and if she does get back to you it's a week or more after the question. It's like she published the course and went on vacation. Avoid 8109 Distance

I took this prof for several distance accounting courses and found her not helpful in the slightest. Slow response time to emails (full week delay sometimes), and when she does respond its a one sentence reply that shows she did not look up the section in the textbook I was asking about and she would only answer one question per email.

Pauline was great!! She can be a bit saucy at times and moves through material rather quickly. She does not post solutions to problems, so you MUST go to class to get answers. This can be very frustrating to some students.

Took this course via distance and it was a disaster. Class marks were way below avg. and exam questions were very different from assigned questions. The class failed the MC section of the both midterms. Be careful via distance ed.
