I felt as though she taught much like she would to a 5 year old. She made her own textbook for us (nice gesture to help us save mone) but it was confusing, incomplete and I had to use another textbook anyways. She would get of subject often and discuss other classes, which was not helpful. ultimately, wish I took someone else.

Payne relies a lot on the books AND USES EVERY LECTURE ON HER EXAM....Make sure you review EVERYTHING for the exam, you just don't know what she may as about. Exams were really hard, but she gives you old essay exams to study from. The multiple choice are killers, but you get through them...especially 2nd semester after you had Civ Pro I with her

Professor Payne care about her students alot and attempts to make you truly know the material. She is difficult because she does not allow to use the rules of civil procedure supplement or any notes for that matter during the exam.

I took Sec. Trans. with her to be sure that I knew the subject for the Bar. The class is only two credits but I spent more time studying for that class throughout the semester than any other class! I took it pass/fail and passed but I still had to spend a ton of time studying for the final. She is unclear and demanding. Take it with ANYONE else

She wasn't as bad as everyone said she would be. A little intimidating at first, but come to class prepared and you'll be fine. Like everyone said, learn her specific phrasing or you will be sorry for the final. Make flashcards of her language if it'll help you get it down. Civ pro sucks anyway, but she made it ok.

OMG BE PREPARED!!! She is very, very clear on what she wants and the language she wants it in. Learn the language or she will burn you on the exam. She does not recurve and half of our class got Cs or lower. BE PREPARED and study really hard on her language! Read the statutes because she uses them in the exam.

Great professor. She is old school, she expects you to be prepared for class, and know the terms of art for the subject. Exam is challenging, and closed book, but there were no surprises on the exam. As for complaints that she doesn't like conservative students, that is BS! Only the students that disrespect her while they voice their opinions.

Very nice, very liberal professor. She's tenured so she can not follow the 1L grade curve. She bumped my grade up from a c- to a B so I'm not complaining.

Who's sending all these fabulous reviews? She was condescending and its her way or the highway. She always smiles at you like you're a ----ing idiot, it was so creepy and annoying. Gave me a good grade, but I couldn't tolerate the grin or her fan club who are hands down the most annoying degenerates in the school. She knows her stuff though . . .

FABULOUS! Prof. Payne makes one of the hardest classes in law school a true joy. She truly cares about her students and the learning process. I would take any class she teaches! She is the one prof that you wish all prof's were like. You will learn with Payne and enjoy the process.

Totally the typical trial lawyer. Funny, challenging and MAKE SURE YOU READ THE CASES! Bad things happen when she calls on you and you haven't read a case (I know from personal experience).

She scared the crap out of me, but in retrospect I think she was very effective. I don't think some people appreciated her personal views, but screw 'em. She's damn smart.
